That sounds pretty darn good to me. My limited experience of a 190 TSI makes me really fancy the idea of a Cupra 300 now. But not so sure I could resist temptation and the mental image of me potentially wrapped round a tree is not so appealing :scary:.

For now, I'll look forward to improving my consumption as the engine frees up!

Enjoy your driving. That 190 TSI sounds a great engine and as having two FR’s previous, you have a great car.

Cupra next

Can't decide between this model, the 1.5 EVO or just go all in for the 290. However reading the comments that this 190 model is quick makes me wonder how fast the 290 is

Is there really enough power in the 190 to make quick progress? I have a mix of roads near me but mostly commute on dual carriage ways / national speed limit roads

Staggeringly, Arm pulling, Scare the S&&t out of you fast.

Saying that the 300 5dr I have is also easy to drive at normal acceleration levels with day to day driving.

Go test drive a Cupra, once done you will want one for sure.

Greetings from Bulgaria!

Took delivery of my Leon FR 2.0 TSI on Monday and had the chance to drive around for around 100 km today and I must say I am delighted by the engine and by the car. True, the bar is not very high coming from a 20 year old Octavia Mk1 but still. Driving around I was left with the impression that the engine can be economical if you want to drive that way. Even putting it in Eco mode, the car would coast a lot more often than I anticipated.

Ordering a set of winter tyres tomorrow and will start breaking it in to get it ready for some spirited driving in the spring.

These cars were not built to be fuel savers. My quote was in reply to how do I get 300+ miles out of a tank of fuel.

If you worry about fuel costs then a Cupra is not for you!! Lol
im ok on my week at work happily plod up the a19 to work and get 40 mpg. its the week off work. I had a 2 litre diesel a3 and spent 160 a month on fuel. spending about 320 a month now. but its a hell of a lot more fun Haha

Hello, guys! Next week I will receive the car. Leon fr 2.0 tsi, 190, mystery blue. I saw that no one commented in the last weeks. I want to know your opinions after more miles. Everything is ok? The fuel consumption is smaller now? Anyone moddified the exhaust? Thanks!

what's the point in having a cupra then lol

i honestly think the Cupra is too powerful, u can only enjoy full power for a couple of seconds and u risk breaking the speed limit, or just stuck behind Miss Daisy ....

question: What is the rear suspension setup on the 190 TSI?

Independent, my work van lights up the front wheels with 75bhp in certain conditions, imagine having 280/290/300 through the front wheels i’d be surprised if you can use WOT 50% of the time without scrabbling all over the road

When rolling, which is the majority of the time if not city driving, you can put 100% down and it's scary quick. No idea what wizardry is being done but this thing just sticks to the road. I've planted it many a time with zero wheel spin. My previous 9-3 Aero with 210hp was much easier to wheel spin with the same tyres (Smaller diameter and width though).
I expect the 190 version without the haldex diff would struggle more accelerating out of corners and pulling the car round at speed. Especially if you map it with higher power.

It must be the diff, when pulling out from a junction my old fr 1.4 was hopeless. Cupra just pulls itself out with easy.

I have had my 68 reg 2.0 tsi 190 FR Sport DSG for 3 weeks now and thought I'd add to this thread.

They are really cost cutting to get rid of these models at the moment, probably because they are no longer officially offering this variant.
I paid £16K with a generous trade price to boot, for an 11 month old car that had done only 4.3k miles. (Also a good time of year to buy a car. :1st: )

So what's it like?

I had read up about the detuned nature of this engine and all things Budack cycle, so I wasn't expecting too much.....

However! The 7 speed DSG is made for this type of engine... You can pootle about town or on B roads in D mode and it can easily get 35-40 MPG mixed driving. I would expect easily to hit mid40MPG on a longer run... and the car is still no slouch.

Then stick the DSG in S mode and the engine comes alive. The revs are kept above 2000 rpm and also above the trigger point for the variable input valve short closing... meaning you are using the business part of the power curve... and the thing flies.

In S mode the 7.2 sec for 100kph is a very high over estimate.
I would say it would easily do under 6.5 sec for 60mph.... the Audi figures for the same engine in the A3 are more relevant to the actual performance. (I will have to do some real measurements to confirm this.) I also think 190ps is a very conservative estimate for this engine.

I have the drive mode set to individual with comfort suspension and sport engine and slightly under inflated the tyres to 35psi all round.. and it drives very tight but comfortable on the 18 inch rims.
Its my first SEAT, but I do like the look of the Leon FR sport...especially from the rear. Leather seats and interior is smart. Infotainment is good and digital dash is a nice touch.

I was looking into mapping the engine, when I looked at the initial performance figures, but to be honest it hardly feels like it needs it at the moment for general driving. Maybe late this or early next year when some of the mappers do some good deals..... as the lo/mid range torque mapping estimates of 400Nm is appealing. (And also when I'm 2 years into my warranty)

There are still a few of this Leon variant around to be had... if you are thinking about it then I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this bargain of a motor, before they are all gone.

Totally agree with Steve's comments, Had mine 4-5 months and its great, Mystery Blue FR ST 190 DSG, awesome colour but does show dirt...

Leave in normal mode generally and D and just switch too S on the gearbox for a quick get away, for commuting and bit of fun great car and a bit of a sleeper as most FR are 1.4 / 1.5 no slouches but these def have more get up and go.........

Yes @Eskilation you mentioned 2 words there that are missing from my comments.

1. Fun. .... and boy is it fun... so composed when you throw it into a corner or roundabouts.
2. Sleeper, ...yes it is.. very much a wolf in an unassuming cloak.

And Mystery Blue... yes nice colour and would have been my choice had I not been offered such a great deal on this car.. but I bet it doesn't show dirt as bad my Nevada White... never washed a car so much in 3 weeks!

I chose mystery blue, loved it at first now i wish i got a white one, if i got a white one at the start i would want mystery blue, thats the way it goes though. All the colours are unassuming and as nice as each other imo, there is no stand out horrible colour so all pretty equal

Yep totally agree, popped DSG in S tonight and reminded myself how quick it is and independent rear make handling a lot diff.

Wife's got a Nevada White FR (1.4) and I seem to be cleaning them both a LOT.... only disadvantage of mystery blue is the swirl mark, lot less noticeable on a white, but seems to be common on new soft paints - will give a proper Machine Polish over the summer to get it tip top.

In the winter never stay clean for long with my mileage.
