Hello all,

I had my 70000 mile service on saturday for my 2001 Cupra and I need new brakes and pads all round.
I am not interested in upgrading the brakes as I dont intend to revvo my car, I just want to know if I should bother using the dealer or would ATS or equivilent be OK? The dealer quoted me £330.

What do you guys think???

Thanks is advance.

Hi matey.

£330 isn't too bad. I had a quote of £400 from a Vag specialist in Portsmouth.
If you're handy with the old spanner, the discs and pads will cost in the region of £160 going by VWSpares.co.uk prices.

You had your cam belt changed yet?

I am not handy with a spanner and dont trust myself with the brakes! I guess I just need to know if I should bother driving to my nearest seat dealer (40 miles away) or if ATS would be ok.

Cam best has been done... thanks for the concern :)

Need to get brakes done and a second hand secondary air pump and I my Leon will be as good as new.

Personally I would stick with Seat parts and service, just to be on the safe side. I'd rather use original equipment than what ATS get cheap enough to make a good profit on.

Just sticking with Seat parts for the 'Quality' dosn't always work - Had my discs and pads changed on 70000k and had to replace them again on 90000k.
May be worth looking at an upgrade if you're keeping the car (would have saved me some cash)

Thanks for you input guys... I will go with the seat dealer. I am not too bothered about how long they last as I plan to get bmw 330d some time this year!

A few tears ago I was quoted around £400 for the front pads and discs on my 01 LC after the 40 or 50k service. I decided to wait as I didn't think they were as worn as the dealer had claimed.

Anyway, when I eventually decided to change them, I contacted a small trusted local garage who changed them with the approved parts for £120.

It was too much of a saving to ignore, no point in trhrowing money at a dealer when I got the same job done for way less than half the money.
