Okay, just doing my research, which parts need changing? Have rang around a few places and got given the list below from one place of the parts that need doing:

-Cambelt (obviously)
-Tensioner
-Waterpump
-Idler & Damper? (Never heard of this being changed before, is it necessary? It's £92 alone inc VAT!!!)

All this plus labor equates to £370!!!

Do I need to change the Idler? If I don't it comes down to £280. But, I don't want to cut corners if it's something that does need doing.

Help!!!

Thanks you! :)

•Timing belt
•Tensioner Roller
•Tensioner assembly
•Idler roller (comes on the tensioner assembly)
•Water pump with metal impeller
•Accessory drive belt
•Thermostat
•2x 1.5 liter bottles of G12 Coolant
•Thermostat Housing
•OEM motor mount bolts (4)
•Camshaft seal
•Crankshaft seal

Been quoted £300 for this at a VW specialist near me called volksmaster.

However http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=244872#post2697951 says it may not need doing?

This is the next on the 'to do' list once I get a job.

lol my cars approaching 5 years, 45k, its time I think with it being a stage 2...but its just that idle damper. Gonna ring Awesome and Seat tomorrow and ask what parts they change on the cambelt service, will post their responses in here, hopefully it will help :)

I had this done around 12 months ago as the car was approaching 5 years old (this year) and only had 31,000 on the clock at the time, so thought it was worth while doing as i had the cash at the time.
Ive had a cambelt snap before and had to rebuild the top end (on a different car) and it was a ball ache, i ended up having to get the head skimmed, new valves as there where 80% of them bent, new gaskets and then fit a new belt.

To be honest it cost me £450 at SEAT 12 months ago, that was with a service, and MOT as well.

However i would personally take it to a independant VAG specialist if i could turn back time as the dealership ragged my car when they had it and ended up using a quater of a tank of petrol and there general attitude was s***t.

I think £300 is a good price

Spoke to Seat this morning, got a price of £380, they don't include the damper...so, went back to my local indie garage I usually use, they are going to do it for £277. Sounds good to me!
