sure you can pick my brains mate...
i did exactly the same with Ben (Roly) when i did mine, so happy to pass on any knowledge, though starting with a 1.6 i dont know what parts you have, ie: the front subframe for instance, and the same with the fuel pump... however a little part number cross referencng will help you a lot

I think the 1.6 FP is like 1bar, so you will need to change that. The ABF needs a 3Bar IIRC, same as 20VT

im currently looking for a donor right now iv seen a passat thats fail mot on abs sensor,so i might go have a look at that! i just hope if i use a passat its as simple as an ibiza donor

You don't want a Passat - the engines are longitudinal (i.e run along the length of the car). As the Ibiza is transverse, this just means you've got more ancillary stuff to move around and fiddle with.

aye really odd that, yet 1.4's share same 3.0 bar as the 2.0 8v+16v etc

does the 1.6 only have single fuel pipe with no return to tank or something ?

Gearbox is a definate no. Controversially you may already have the right hubs and calipers. Do you have 256mm discs on there at the moment? Those golf brakes are wrong too.
