Shame about the Audi,
I like the new seat. Love a bit of carbon.
Wrap is a great colour.
I’m in same boat as you re tracking the car.
Do I go all the way? Strip and Cage?
Where does one stop?
Being lighter makes it more nimble for sure.
Rods would be superb it I’m going LSD first so I can lay the power down.
Probably asked before ,Where are you based?
Hooking up for a track day would be a laugh.
Probably doing Bedford Autodrome 25th Feb to start the year off.

Badger5 Custom Map + TIP,
3” Sustem, FMIC, Bosh 550’s,
BC Coilovers, ARB’s +loads more.

I’m in Swindon sparkie

I agree 100% on the LSD , I would love one , maybe in the summer when it’s warmer as who likes pulling a box outside in winter ,

I usually do
Pembrey (Wales )
Castle combe (Wiltshire )
Nurburgring

I use this company for my days as they keep numbers low normally a 40 car day and get loads of seat time .

https://www.slipandgripautomotive.co.uk/events
I’d be 100% up for a track day meet up !

Brembos have been stripped , painted AGAIN but this time heat cured in an oven so the high temp paint has actually gone solid . Decals fitted then to lacquer this weekend

Rebuilt new seals and dust boots to go in .

Brakes will then be fitted in time for the meet up .

Finished off the brake callipers tonight.
Lacquered them and then back in the oven for another hour with increasing heat from low up to 230”c for curing .

One came out better than the other , but for a home paint job by a moron I will take this as a victory .

Very nice, love the fact you have an oven in the garage for such jobs.

So tonight I finally started to make my adjustable bucket seat frames .

I took a standard seat , cut the runner off and then had a friend who is a good fabricator welder make up the mounts and retain the back and forwards movement in the seat

Here’s some quick snaps as was getting late

Few attempts and adjustments but got it right in the end

Also here’s some shots of what’s in the garage , remind me why I left here again ??

Right

I finally pulled my finger out today . Back in 2017 I started a mini project that gave me many issues and challenges .

Yes I’m talking about the brembo brakes .

I painted them but the paint never went off and lost heart with them . As you’d seen a few pages back I got back on track painted and baked the coating . New seals and braided lines with new hardware and ferodo ds2500 pads on Pagid discs

One Caliper kept Leaking where the brake pipe goes in but a little extra nip tight stopped this , was so glad as this would probably have been the end of this mini project .

Anyways some photos !! Excuse the mess

So what’s next . Well I’m going to buy a track slag charge pipe ,

I’ve just had all my door handles and mirror caps painted so these will be back on some time next week .

Then for the big meet up maybe some new wheels if I can decide which to buy .
I’m narrowed down on two sets

What you all think ?

One thing I've learnt is that keeping black wheels shiny and clean is a pain in the butt hence why I'd like mine re doing to something easier...

I've seen the top wheels on a mk2 leon (pretty much the same anyway) and I wasn't a fan personally but that's the fun of cars there is no right or wrong answer lol

Your have to excuse the engine bay it needs some major loving ,

Managed to fit the charge pipe tonight , not driven it yet to see if there’s any noise change or differences ,

Looks great and now it makes me want to get the inlet and rocker cover polished up to match .

Had some good progress this month , I’m awaiting delivery of my new track tyres to come in next week and then I need to decide on wheels for them ,

New coilovers maybe next month as going to boom some more track days and the shock and spring kit I’m on at the moment I just not cutting it .

Did some more jobs this weekend that I’ve been putting off for ages .

Power flex bushed the steering rack and anti roll bar

Replaced coilovers for a new set

Fitted a TT strut brace and the lower brace

Replaced a cv joint

I would have loved to come but I’m abroad 29-5th but I’m always up for it .

Also if anybody fancies coming to castle Combe on Monday (12th August ) your more than welcome to come soak up the atmosphere and have some passenger laps (passenger wrist band is only £5 on the day . )

My father in-law has also been invited to the Cupra trackday at Silverstone this week by the Cupra dealer in Swindon (he just bought a Ateca)
I’m well upset ! But hopefully he will come home having ordered one .
