Well I don't drive the car hard and do t get to drive it too often albeit we have only had it two weeks.

But if I accelerate hard in first and go into second, not that I agree on driving in that style for the sake of the car but it seems to crunch into second.

Maybe a am used to a sloppier tuned 2.2 Astra or Clio Sport.

Is this driving style issue or a possible synchro issue? Or common issue with the 1.8t ?

Torque mount or dogbone bush needs sorting. Fit an uprated bush to it, mine used to do this.

Thanks for the reply.

After testing the car today, it only does it in first to second and only from 5k rpm upwards. Clutch fully down and it just crunches.

Is this how yours was?

Any recommendation on bushes?

Also just to confirm that the torque mount is the same as the dog bone? Or two different items?

Can't comment on the 5k rpm bit as mines a diesel. The torque mount is the dogbone yes theyre the same. I've used suprpro and powerflex... Powerflex seems "nicer" and I actually broke the suprpro bush.

Have you checked your brake fluid level ?

The brake fluid reservoir also feeds the clutch.

Might be worth bleeding the clutch even if the level looks ok.

Thanks for confirming the mount.

I have not checked the fluid, I will check it tomorrow.

Thanks.

ive had the same problem in my car took it to VW to get it fixed because i thought it was the clutch that was causing the problem.

They said it was all my fault, they said i tried to change gear without putting my foot on the clutch and that every single gear had been grinded. Im still trying to fight this case because i know it was a bunch of crap.

but im thinking you might have the same problem it might just be the clutch !! Get it checked out

New gear oil in and also the dogbone replaced all seems to be good from the intial tests i did yesterday. Will give it a bit more time and report back.
