I've just bought a secondhand 3" DP and decat and have been quoted £65 to fit it. Does this seem a fair price to pay?

To put your quote in perspective AmD wanted £180+vat to fit mine. Although in fairness they offer free fitting when you buy it from them, i didnt hence the price.

Yeah was me who bought it:D I've been after one for ages now.

Once this is fitted I'll have a 200cel milltek race cat to try and get rid of, cuz it's the older type it ain't gonna fit back on :(

They told me it'll take them 1.5 hours to do. Is it worth heat wrapping it before hand?

Lol, you can bet that most LCR parts that are sold on ebay are from this forum and that they make their way back here.

I've just been looking at the heat wrap stuff and there is a company not far from me selling Titanium exhaust wrap. Just wondering how much i'd need to do both dp and decat?

just a quick 1. whats the point in the heat wrapping? is it for a secondary heatshield or does it keep the exhaust temp higher allowing the gases to escape quicker meaning better performance in any way??

well i fitted my downpipe and de-cat last week and i snapped a stud removing it so had to drill it out and tap it. ok for me as i had enough gaskets to replace the lot but if this happens in the garage then expect that £65 to increase to around £300 tbh if you got access to ramps and a good tool kit then its not a bad job to do yourself but if your not the mechanical type then £65 is a bargain.

From what i've read about heat wrap yes your right.

I could fit it myself but i don't have access to a ramp so would mean i'd have to struggle doing it on axle stands which I don't fancy at all.

The garage thats fitting it replaced my turbo a couple of months back so the studs should be easy enough for them to crack off.

i wont entertain doing it on axel stands. well seeing as they did the turbo not so long ago it should be a doddle for them. i would in that case let the garage do it. ill probably heat wrap my exhaust when i swap the center section and the over axel piece for a 3" system.
the reason i was going to heatwrap was for the extra protection and the supposedly performance improvement.

Same here regarding the axle stands, i started and gave in - much easier on ramps. The subframe was dropped on mine to gain some access, reading about on here some people have and some haven't dropped the subframe. £65 is an absolute bargain.

Right it's booked in so just need to know whether it's worth wrapping the dp, if so will 5 metres be enough to do it?

Do you think I should do the decat pipe aswell? Or just dp?
