I did notice that yeah.
When I first had stage 2 done it was 339 bhp & 349lb torque
Could it be the way the RR was set up? Dunno

I keep meaning to get to Lakeside to meet up with you others but I just don't get the time :(
I'll get there one day though ;)

Maybe heat soak, how many runs did they do? My torque always drops after one or two runs, bhp seems to stay constant, when the intake temps get high the ecu pulls boost and boost=torque!

Flat spot at 1 minute 35 seconds ;)

runs off to watch vid at 1.35 secs

that flat spot seems pretty extreme, could be wheelspin and traction control kicking in, as by the looks of it the revs go backwards a bit but who knows could be trick of the eye.

Thats what I thought, then saw another flat spot in the next gear at the same revs (approx 5200rpm) at 1:40

Yup. Just like all the big bhp k04s just some people dnt notice it as much as we do ! Let me knw how u get on with the rs4 valve mate

ye all the big bhp k04 cars seem to suffer from the flat spot, alot of them are keeping quiete about it though.

I am interested to know how the traction control works with the diff mick? I will find out myself by the weekend, but interested to see how the electronics work with the mechanics on yours.

Also, is the sensation coming off a roundabout completely the opposite with regard to which direction the car wants to take you under power - ie understeer on the way out on stock box and pulling you toward the pavement with the LSD?

Naaa i just dont have it and ive been looking long and hard with the brief dry road conditions (ie no wet weather and esp kicking in confusing things at a 100mph).

Couple of short clips I done today in the pouring rain.
Goes without saying that this was done on a private road and not a public road.

Milltek Exhaust from exterior

Acceleration from interior

Looking good, and goes well too. So are you getting much wheel spin in the wet through the gears??

I've got the stage 2+, milly TBE, KMD fuel pump (no ITG or cooler) but the car spins in the dry let alone in the wet. Not easy putting that kind of power down with the front wheels!

Ahhhhh, the K04 flat spot.....I remember that. Theories abound as to what it is, but eliminating it is another thing entirely.

For me it appears to be a combination of two things....fuelling and timing pull. Fuelling being the issue and timing pull being the result.

The only way I cured it was to have the RS4 valve fitted, which stabilised the low pressure "in-tank" fuel pump and uprated the fuel delivery to the high pressure fuel rail.

The only side effect I've seen is a slight harmonic effect in the delivery of the fuel pressure in the high pressure fuel rail at higher revs, but it did stop my "flat spot":funk:

john, you reckon this would work on the k03 as well, as i reckon i had the flat spot as well, but its intermitent

is it the lower pressure fuel sender that you guyys are talking of, as in the screw in jobbie under the left han side of the inlet manifold

Its the fuel return valve as far as I know, around about the inlet manifold. Supposedly a pigs ear to do, but its only rated to 130Bar. Revo Stage 2+ code asks for more (132.49Bar), and the theory is as per Johns (Hurdy) post above. The RS4 valve is rated higher, therefore the theory is the flat spot issue goes with the limitation.

I guess if my car behaves on the way up the road and for the roasting it will get this weekend once i have dumped all the standard parts out the boot, it will hopefully be proof that this works as that will have been 2 UK cars it has been done on. However we will have to wait and see the results when its done.

If I drive it and hear no "jingling" noise I will be a very very happy man, even better if it pulls cleanly all the way to the red line :)

there is another mk5 gti in the uk who has fitted this valve, iirc by what cuprak1 has told me it didnt fix his flat spot, and he got some low rpm running issues, but who knows if they are related or not.

Just not enough consistency with this mod at the moment, or enough consistency with what causes the flat spot.

Im running 8 6 8 with standard exhaust but all other mods and have no flatspot anymore. Dont think the exhaust has anything to do with it either as I have had the flat spot on the stock exhaust before.

BTW a car without the flat spot is soooooooo much better and more fun to drive. I hope it stays this way but who knows, im sure it will return at some point.

actually there is a mk2 cupra on this site which also has this mod but there isnt much info on it. Revo recommended it to his tuner,

thats a big willy hurdy :p lol

Didn't you also have actuator done at same time though? Could be a combination of the two.

Me and Pov and Al (djHorace) are doing the valve mod, al being the 1st so we will see what effect it has. Nice one :D
