Just coming up to my 40k service in the next month or so. So i want to get all the bits ready a few weeks before hand. Just need to know if i have everything i need. I would like to uprate the plugs so im going to go for the denso ones... is there anything else that can be uprated while im splashed out on service parts.

So far i can think off.

Denso plugs I22`s? if thats correct
Seat fuel filter
Seat oil filter
synta gold oil
pollen filter?
Seat Coolent/anti freeze
Gear box fluid?

im going to order my cambelt kit from GSF or the likes do i need to ask for the tensiors or do do they come in the kit?

obviously the water pump aswell i read somewhere they had stopped doing the metel imprepellor? True?

So if anybody could add any bits ive missed that would be great. Also a place where i could get all of it in the bulk apart from the seat parts.

Cheers David.

You dont have to get the cambelt done at 40k. I'd say thats pretty early and it will cost you a fortune.

Denso IK22's or PFR6Q's ftw.

my belt will be done at 40k intervals during my ownership. some VAG companies have said its advisable. i'd rather do it 20k early that do it 'as recommended' and face a hefty repair bill

ahhhh right. thats bloody stupid! history of my car, somone left the belt overdue of 60k and the water pump siezed which shagged the lot! ah well £1500 reciept from Seat in the history for a top end rebuild so at least it should be done right

Id agree it is pretty early from what ive read on here, but im running close on to 240bhp now i know its not huge power for our engines but id rather be safe than sorry. Im not paying proper prices as im buying all the parts needed and getting my mech to do it on a saturday morning (when the boss isnt around) cash in hand so ill be getting it alot cheaper... I did think to save it till 50k but the chances are i wont have the car this time next year so it could bea better selling point?

It was change belt at 120k miles as per handbook, but that has now been reduced by SEAT and I'm sure it was quoted on scn by a SEAT technician to be 60k miles or 5 years.
Will find out for definite from VW car dealership side of our group tomorrow what the replacement interval is for the golf 1.8t's, as sure it will be same accross VAG range.

Vauxhall also did this on the Ecotec 16V engines in the astra G and vectras of the time and reduced the replacement time from circa 100k miles down to 40k miles.
