50mm on 18s??

hi guys, just been searching for info on lowering but I'm still strugling to make my mind up. If I was to go 50mm on 18s on a cupra would I be constantly rubbing/grinding? I can't afford coilovers so gonna get shocks/springs which obviously means I gotta get the height right!

Or would I be better only lowering it by 40mm?

Could people also please put up a pic of their leons and what height they'r at

You should be fine on a 50mm drop with 18's but it is more then likely that you'll need to change the front ARB as well.

Something like the Weitec 50mm kit and Whiteline front ARB would be a good choice...

Y would I need the new arb? Is it any different?

No problem.

The standard front ARB usually rubs on the driveshaft if you go -50mm and more.

Ah ok, is it an easy job to replace?

Depends how confident you are and also if you have the correct tools, it's a pretty easy job for a garage, just takes a little time.

What has the diameter of the wheels got to do with how far you lower the car? The outer diameter of the tyres is the same whatever size wheels you choose?

not saying necessarilly in this case, but as i say, if your tyre profile is smaller which it is possible to vary in some instances then the distance between the edge of the alloy and the outer tyre is reduced meaning the overall diameter is reduced.
