6 Speakerd DAB

Just got my Car back from the Dealer after they fitted 2 Rear Speakers to my 1.4 DAB.
Sound is a lot rounder and fuller now.Not that I had noticed it was only 4 untill Dealer phoned me to tell me they had them in to fit.
Dealer has gone up in my estimation after the hassle of buying the car.
All under warrenty and even provided me with a Courtesy car. Service receptionist told me they had done 3 of these already. I know there is contrersy over the speaker situation but hey i'm happy.

Wev - I have just ordered a DAB and may take the same route as you with my dealer. Do you know if the wiring for the rear speakers in already there hence just requiring a set of speakers or is it a rewire job as well?

Don't really know, but from what was said it sounded like a wire job as well as speakers.

My name is Vince and I have also recently purchased a Seat Ibiza DAB. Mine also only came with four speakers (all in the front). I am going to have speakers fitted in the rear but was interested by your post. Did your dealership actually pay to put speakers in the rear of your car? How did you manage that? I am planning to go to a local car audio place and get some fitted. Do you know what size the speaker is that fits in the rear? And do wires have to be run from the headunit to the back? Many thanks for your help.

I think that there was a printing error in the spec for the first DAB models which said they had 6 speakers, when in fact there were only 4.

I think i'm right in saying this has now been sorted and any cars sold after the specs were corrected will not be eligible to get the extra speakers.

Somebody jump up and down on me if i'm wrong......

I Orderd my Car when it was first announced, I think the printed Spec at the time mentioned Six Speakers but can't be sure.
I never actualy noticed the missing speakers when I picked it up. Then 2 weeks later the Dealer phone me up out of the blue to say they have speakers in and can I bring my car in to fit them. I hadn't contacted them or complained. I think that there must have been a number of complaints from DAB owners and the Dealer included me in the batch as I was one of the first to order and probebly because I had a number of issues with the dealer during the butying process.
So yes it was done under warrenty so I didn't pay.

the speakers are 16cm vince... it would just depend if the wires are there if u need to put some cables from the HU to the rear speakers mind that would be quite difficult! the speaker wire if its there is good enough for my speakers.....

Hey every one, Just got a yellow dab about 2months ago, when fidling with the sound in the car and found it had only four speakers and i was told six i was quite unhappy as this was 1 of the feature that attracted me to the car, hope they aint lying bout my 100ps engine lol, will take kick up hell at the dealers tomorrow. wish me luck

Ive been wondering this aswell!!! Does your car seem to be quite slow for a 1.4 thats suposed to have a 100PS Engine 16V! To be honest I was expecting a bit more power.... Never test drove it just saw the deal and got it! haha.

Im used to driving a 600CC modded Smart for2. and for a 1.4 I was expecting so much more out of it! Seems to sruggle on hills too, unless I drop it down a gear and rev it high.

hey mate, not to sure my car was quite slow between after the 1000 run in, its done 3500m now, it seems to do alright. seems to be just slightly faster than a sax vtr and a old 1.5 vtec civic i had a little bit of sport with. A rollin road test would be interestin though. Did you get 4 or 6 speakers in you dab?

my 75ps ibiza goes like a rocket so just wait till its run in! mine has now done 30k i pull out after a que of traffic (1 lorry and about 6 cars) all over taken in less than a mile after pulling out they was doing about 60... but yeah the power kicks in 2 notches after 3000 rpm on mine... but im happy! accept the mpg! 30! which is not that bad untill it drops below that...

hi vince if i was you i would get them to put some in the front's too... specially if they are half decent ones in the back... i only spend about £100 on mine and sound sweet!

Stu666 - I got 4 Speakers. Chased the dealer up and hes trying to get my back speakers in!! So hopefully soon I will be able to go down there and get them working. Which I will be very happy about!

The clutch is very, very different to the leon. i.e - I prefer the Leon clutch than my beeza one!
But its not a bad drive. Can cope with it alrite. getting around 34MPG. never been used to such low MPG. Nevermind.

I'd just heard that there was a error in the original specs and that it had been rectified as obviously Seat were losing money!

losing money so they took out 2 speakers?? like that is soo much money saving, hey i would be happy with 34mpg!!! i can goto 38 on motorways on my norm roads it goes between 28-32! normally the middle of that :S and seat have reprogramed my ecu lol any way lets get back to the original post ....
