Just wondering if anyone else has seen this, car is 67 plate, very well looked after and low mileage (less than 10k a year) and there’s rust coming through underneath the rear light clusters. Looks like bad finishing work to be honest.

The photos don’t show is really well but the paint has come away and there is defiantly “oranging”.

Yeah, it’s pretty shoddy. I’m becoming more disappointed with the car as time goes on, there’s been a number of issues and some “can’t be replicated” so we end sucking them up.

Surely it must still be under corrosion warranty?

Yeah, it should be. Just wondering if anyone else had seen the issue. I’ll be getting photos of the work being done as I don’t want a shoddy job done where they just dibble in over the top or something.

Service manager might have some tip ex in his desk drawer to touch it up while you wait. Lol

Thanks, I was just wondering whether someone had removed the light fitting in the past and damaged the paintwork at the time, had to have my fuel flap catch renewed under warranty recently, and later noticed that there was a small bit of paintwork damaged (chipped) around the bottom L/H corner of the flap area.
Had never noticed it before this work was done, but proving it was done when the job was done !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If that's the big rear light cluster where the indicator reside yes I've had that off, covered in the link on bulbs. There is a useful video on how to take it off on the video. If you were touching up you'd want to take it off from that picture.

I wouldn't touch it up if you are hoping for a corrosion warranty job just leave it as it is else they will say you messed with it. Two forms of paint repairs the Seat approved ones (more expensive) and the body shop ones, half the price from my experience. To sort out home counties street parking damage after I moved out. About half the price. Went for the body shop that the local Seat garage recommended, 60 miles closer than the Seat approved one, excellent job of taking out the scratches, deformed panel and bumper (tags, car door whacked it and a 4x4 with spare wheel rammed it - all deduced). Depends whether you are held to Seat repairing any damage on resale / exchange on dings, scratches etc.

Thanks Tell, I am taking it back to SEAT the lights have never been off as far as I know so it is my intention to let them sort it out. Im not going to touch it as I don' want them to try and blame me / wiggle out of it. The more I look at it the more its clear just a bad finishing job on the boot lid. A Friday night special maybe?

Hope they do it properly, but I will expect to have evidence of the repair being done correctly as that could easily become a significant rust issue pretty quickly.

We own the car outright so it needs to be done properly should we ever want to re-sell it.
