Hi guys, not had the ibiza long but just got a couple of questions!!!

1) I don't think the car has an alarm (07 Ibiza Sport 1.4) is this right? If so can I just plug and play a standard alarm etc of another seat? Or just get a clifford can bus 2?

2) My brake lights come on without the ignition being on, even without the key in the barrel :lol:is this right?:ban:

Cheers guys

I'd be surprised if there is no alarm fitted, maybe put this to the test by leaving a window open, lock up the car then stick your arm into the car and wave it about - that should annoy the interior monitoring sensors. Also, yes on most Germanic cars, the brake light come on at any time the pedal is pressed.

ah nice on mate, cheers for that info!!! I have tried that with the alarm! :-( Locked it with the windos down, the drivers door LED started flashig and stuck my arm in the window and was waving round like a mad man, and nothing! So then tried opening the boot with the key and nothing still no alarm siren!!!

the brake light thing is normal!

and my 56 plate 1.4 doesnt have an alarm either, theres a couple of options you can go for, you could go to seat and it will more than likely cost you an arm and 2 legs,
you could get a cheap one from somwhere and fit it yourself, but these normally just end up going off every time a fly lands near the car

Or you could get a thatcham approved one fitted such as cliffor or viper.

personally im having a viper fitted in about a months time once ive got the money for it,
will cost about 370 quid including the price of fitting, and it is by an insurance approved fitter,

i thought they all have alarms fitted only was i found out was when i opened my car and pressed the lock botton i then tryed startin my car and the alarm went of.

another way of tryin it is sit in your car lock your car wait about 30 secands and jump around inside that should work.

Adam if you are thinking of fitting an alarm make sure the one you choose is thatcham cat 1 rated and get it fitted by an approved installer (get a certificate). This can often bring your insurance down.

As tom said above: viper or clifford are among the best, toad are good too.

^^ yeah that.
Also if you get some random person to install it you may end up spending 2 weekends with a friend pulling the car apart working out why the immobilizer randomly cuts in & then finding they BYPASSED the fuel pump fuse when they spliced in the immobilizer.:censored::banghead:
