My car has been to the
dealers today for the recall, they replaced 3 coil packs which were still the original ones and left the 1 OEM I changed last year.
They also did one of their little checks on the car and came up with a list of jobs that supposedly need doing. Parts and labour £2500.
Oil leak from Turbo (although they need to charge me £130 to diagnose where it's possibly leaking from)
New rear bushes as mine are split
Inner and Outer CV boots (something along the lines of £300
Cam belt (it was done 2 months ago)
Front brake pads (£300 to change)
4 new tyres
rear and centre silencer even though the rear bracket is the only thing that is broken and needs welding back on
Fuel filter bracket missing, held in place by cable tie, (bracket £1, £30 labour)
other little odds and sods
I think they're trying it on. I'm getting it up on stands at the weekend to check everything as i'm not convinced. They told me brake pads 2 1/2 years ago were worn and needed replacing, they lasted another 1 1/2 years (18000 miles) before replacing them and they still had pad left.
If the bushes are shot, i'm guessing they're a pain in the arse to change, so might have a mechanic friend to change them and possibly the CV boots (if they're split). It's not losing oil so i dont think there is a leak from the turbo
