Yep, all-in-all I would say it isn't going to be worth the bother!

Ok I’m bringing this back to life because I’m going to build a set and if all goes good I will make the circuit available for the community as an install kit for their personal tail lights
What I would like to know is what you guys are looking for
The general designee will be the A6 style tail lights but how do you want the brake lights to function?
Because there are a few ways to make it work
What would you like to see ?
1)an extra set of led’s within the outline led’s to light up on braking (as in this post)
2)no extra brake led’s but only have the outline led’s glow stronger when braking and dim back when off the brakes
3)a combination of option 1 and 2
As an option I could also do the reverse ,signal and fog lights as well in led they have a much more simple circuitry than the brake function circuitry
I would also like to add few words about the pcb that is getting everyone so worried about
I can do a pcb by acid etching ore CNC but that would be very expensive unless I run them in the thousands and at the end of it all the board will be painted in red so you won’t be able to tell the difference between the pcb and the regular electric board I will be using ,the pcb only has the cool factor when the tail lights are dismantled the board will look more original but when the tail lights are completed you won’t be able to tell the difference and don’t be worried about arranging the led’s with the electric board you can arrange them as close ore far about as you want

I would say option 3 mate, having more leds light up is good, but the brakes need to be brighter than the other lights.
umm most are oblivious to it all
and some are really stupid , like a traffic officer up our way who drives the Bmw's as traffic cars , so should know all about Bm's yet when checking tyres to pinpoint someone who was doing a burnout in a carpark he went and checked the front tyres
being a regular driver of the same car , he should know its rear wheel drive
as for lights , dependant on cost etc , i think i would def like the brake lights to be brighter / seperate from the tail lights for the safety reasons , rather than looks
Just to make clear option 3 means that the outline led’s will become brighter under braking and at the same time an additional set of brake led’s will light up to the same luminous as the outline ones
All an all it look like this would be the best option and the safest
Parts for building the circuits are is -£ 40-60 for a set of tail lights that consist of 46 led’s on each side for tail lights and brake lights
This does not include the price for the labor of putting the circuits together
I am not going to install these in the actual light cluster because that would mean much more time and labor to put them together which I don’t have and the price for a set of new tail lights + shipping (which since I’m in Israel would be about 30 $ standard)this would make the price jump to about £250 for a custom set (I will only do this on special request)
Any how the install of the system is not for everyone because whatever I do electrically wise you are going to have to modify your wiring and rout new wiring from the tail lights on the side of the car to the tail lights on the boot because the light cluster’s on the boot don’t have nether brake lights ore driving lights (only fog and reverse)
What I will do is set it up to plug into the original wiring so you don’t need to slice the original loom up and then all you will have to do is rout an additional two wires from the circuit in the side tail lights to the circuits in the tail lights on the boot so some modifying by the end user will be essential
Even if I do build the complete tail lights for the customer he will still need to rout wiring to the light cluster on the boot
The kit will consist of 3 circuit boards two in the side light cluster one for driving lights and one for brakes and the third for the boot driving lights
I will also be using super flux led’s because although they are more expensive they give a much wider viewing range
All an all it look like this would be the best option and the safest

i think having the ineer part of the light (inner part which is surrounded by the led's) should be used for the brake lights, similar to the a3.

i'd like the option number 3, however, i dont know whether i could go through with it incase i got pulled over :/ is there any way of checking if they're legal or not?
