just had the above fault repaired by a local auto electrics specialist from reading the forum on this fault I was expecting the worst a new brake control ECU 
but I wasn't turned out to be corrosion on the underside of the multiplug connector simple fix corrosion all cleaned off plug and ECU and all back to normal I WONDER HOW MANY ECU's HAVE BEEN REPLACED NEEDLESSLY ?????????????????
