AC Button on Climate Control

Despite reading the handbook cannot work out why there's an Air Conditioning button on the Climate Control panel on my new Cupra. Surely with climate control on auto you do not need to adjust anything else?. Tried switching it on and off when on auto and does not seem to make any difference. I don't remember a similar button on the old Cupra.Any ideas?

im sure there was a button on the old cupra. (ECON)

Its quite simple.

Climate control maintains the selected temperature, this may mean heating the air via the heater matrix, cooling via the air con, or you can simply allow the ambient temperature to surfice by leaving it on low.

However, air con uses extra fuel, and if on all the time then the ambient temperature this is not an option as it would get colder and colder if you had it on low. So you can use climate control but have air on off to potentially save fuel if heating is not needed, but cooling isnt either.

It de activates the a/c much the same as the older econ buttons used to.

So you can have it on cool but not running the a/c, or you can turn on the a/c when the temp is higher to clear windows faster for example.

It doesnt make a whole lot of difference as they are constantly driven compressors anyhow.
