this is just an excuse to say ive got a 40incher!

MK1 rear seats:
the back rest folds down forwards
the bits you sit on (bench?) can also be folded forwards (hinged at front edge) to allow the back rest to fold down properly.

is this what you are refering too?

I found that out too yesterday at Ikea, pulling the bench up like a good un & it wasnt budging.

Got it all in though.

Not an excuse but gives an idea of size and practicality although my mate bought a 37" LCD and it struggled to go in his mk4 Flog. Could be the box I guess.

however looking at your pic you have for the back rest folded down a fair way, perhaps the seats fold down further... or some more cost cutting..

It was actually a gift but I think a 42" would have fit too.
