Hello, I have had a look at alot of the threads and have seen some confliting answeres so thouhgt i would see what response i got. I have a mk2 2006 (55plate) reference leon with bluetooth built in and steering wheel control.

Im looking to replace my OEM car stereo and would appreciate advice on the following-
  • How do i remove the OEM stereo (really want to avoid damage!!)
  • Where can i get a facia? Seen a few on the net (A1 motors, DVB audio) and they seem to be a bit more expensive than what i have seen opeople talking about on this site. I have read alot about getting parts from my seat dealer ect but not sure of numbers. any numbers would be good!
  • what adaptors need to be used when fitting a new head unit (its going to be single din with a pocket)
  • does the seat bluetooth still work when there is a new headunit?
  • how do you get into the speakers that are in the doors (both the main and the tweeters) and what size are they
  • what the best way to run the cables from the head unit to the boot (hoping to fit a amp at some point)

Thanks for any help and advice, it really will be appreciated!!

Thanks, that looks like a good bit of help! The only ther question I have is will my bluetooth work with out my OEM stereo? really want to keep the bluetooth set up as it is!

yes regardless of the make of head unit , as long as it has an auxillary in your bluetooth will work.
Only thing is you will have to change the source button on your head unit to aux , it wont switch automacically , except if you go for the alpine version with the switching box.

Ruuning cables to the back is a pita in the leon , i did one side by removing the trim but did the drivers side by removing the seat much easier , and i am not a newbie to this been installing for over 20 years.
If you change the speakers in the front doors then you need patients of a saint and will find our self going to confession for the next year for all the swearing you do , taking off is easy , but aligning and putting back on again thats a diffeent question all together !

Also to get rca cables up and behind the head unit is another pain , next to no room at all because of the way the centre console is constructed , took me about 2 hours using a coat hanger !
