i have just de-cated my (05) LCR and as predicted the engine management light has come on. i am positive that when i plug my ecu in it will read somthing like"downflow oxygen censor fault", so bacicly i need either a dummy lamber censor or some kind of resister for my ecu.
please advise.
cheers johno:confused:

i have noticed a massive increace in throttle response, it pulling through the gears alot smoother aswell, ctfb! "chuffed to f*ck!ng bits"
it will now happily sit alongside my mates evo 2 which is running 330 bhp!

You cannot use a decat pipe on a Leon - LC or LCR - without having a custom or stage 2 remap to map out the use of the o2 sensor in the exhaust.

Without doing this your car will think it's running far, far too rich and may cut fuelling to help cure this 'problem' and you may go into limp mode.

And there is no way a decat will make your LCR an Evo chaser... but that's another problem for another thread ;)

I've seen a system that keeps the cat in place for mot's but vents the exhaust gases out of a valve in the exhaust before the cat, but I just cannot remember who makes it, or where the link is i had...

Surely you would lose all backpressure by doing that? Not to mention making your car sound like a Fiesta with a hole in the exhaust? Everything from the cat back would be made totally redundant?

That's a good point, i saw this fitted to a golf turbo cannot remember how it works exactly, but there's a valve upstream of the cat that allows the exhaust to vent on high boost, but not on low boost, so you keep the cat for mot's and quiestness on running around but when giving it some the valve opens to allow higher boost and more power, without the need to replace the whole exhaust system, so you run with stock exhaust, but get the benifits of a free flow exhaust.

It looked pretty trick on the vidoe i saw, just wish i'd kept the link, i'm trying to find it as i type....

DPJ, you little beauty, that's it...

I've spent the last 1/2 hour looking for that, and all i found was a company called rouge motorsport in the us doing them for beemers

I've just been looking at youtube, and GHL exhausts seem like the usa's answer to milltek, and sound awesome, just a shame they don't know what a seat is...... so no exhaust's,

Backpressure should negate the need for a wider diameter from the cat back, so I can see where that's coming from. Everything from the cat back is fairly free flowing anyway.

Yes a cat is a legal requirement for MOT. Taking off means your illegal because of emmitons.:)

Yes this thing works by the looks of thigs. Very good bit of kit. I would get one. But not yet. There are other things i want first. This would perform a full 3" system because it bypassed the cat!
