Aero kit, just for looks or performance?

Does anyone know or feel any benefits of the aero kit of the standard leon fr, is it just for aesthetics or is there a performance gain? is there improved aero grip/downforce etc? are there any figures.

Aesthetics only

Theres no evidence it improves performance imo

Only downsides as it makes the car heavier, and in turn slower.

the skirts and spoiler add weight and friction, but the front bumber is paper thin, mine has a crack in it from a flying stone
