Component and/or Version: 1.8L20VTCUPRA R 0001

Software Coding: 11500

Work Shop Code: WSC 00000

1 Fault Found:

17967 - Throttle Valve Control part (J338): Fault in basic settings

P1559 - 35-00 - -

so when i do a tba it comes up error on the measuring blocks? :s

battery voltage needs to be up for adaption.. seen this fault before when trying to dianose an ibiza.. its battery was tired and when jumped onto a good battery worked fine.

Bennys is deffo wiring problem @ the main engine connector.. in the lower portion of the connector. An absolute pig to work around with no excess wiring to play with there

99% convinced this is the issue associated with the problems.. drops a cylinder when waggling the connector, and stalls out dead also.

just got to find which wire(s) are messing about now.. and fix em.. somehow.

Dedication to customers is what we like to see :D

As said theres no rush, im just hoping to drive it home!

its unwound more now, just such a b'stad to get in there and see anything with req'd pipes on it to get it running at all. getting there.
horrible job..

Surely once you have it remapped it dont matter if its a cupra or cupra r ecu as the map has changed?

It should only make a difference if it was standard..

If you are near Guildford and want somebody else to look at it take it the The Phirm. Sure they will be able to help you out abit. ECU once mapped wont make a difference...dont think it will make any difference not mapped either but it will only have 156bhp not 180bhp.

Benny collected it off me last night.
It was running fine when he left, fingers crossed it made it home. Been running fine since end of last week. Problem area was the engine connector connections.

Yup everything was fine on the way home(45 miles), cant thank Bill enough.

Turned out to be a dodgey connection on the main plug to the wiring loom as i understood it. Im sure Bill is able to explain better.

Just glad its fixed now i can start making the for sale ad`s!

If you live close to Bill or even if you dont ( i low lowderd mine 45miles) give him a shout! My first experiance was a pleasent one, shame im now selling up or id be back down there for some tuning parts!

Thanks again Bill!

guess wot!!! my car fixed to it was the same thing!!:p

Weird...

Havent had the gearbox out latly have you? It seems that mine may have been disturbed when the box was removed as there was mole grip marks around the connector.

it seems there is a water trap in the connectors, not that that appeared to be bennys problem, but it sure aint a good thing. pin plug & sockets were loose, so intermittant connections. some cleaning up req'd along with some solder run across them to "freshen" the faces and a tweek to their alignment, made for a tighter, secure electrical connection. Then taped up for good measure.

I was thinking last night Bill when you mentioned about the water trap, could that not have been water but electrical cleaner(IPA)? Myself and the mechanic before you had sprayed abit in there previous.

no, that would flash off, this sat there for a few days and still appeared. heatgun used to evaporate it off in the end after much spraying with brake cleaner to drive out the water and all that dielectric grease.

yea thats wot we did cos i thought it was the ecu as thier we checked the connections and it was ok but it was **** signal going to the tba

bennys was trouble on power/earths and t'body... injector open circuits, t'body, coilpacks.... generally unhappy
