Hi guys.

My discs are at the point where they need changing.

I just don't find the standard ones good enough, and want some drilled ones, to better handle heat.

Problem is that i can't seem to find any? Brembo don't make discs for the cupra, and i haven't been able to search my way to other manufacturerers that make drilled discs for the cupra either.

Anyone know of some drilled after market discs?

They are the same discs as on the MkV R32 and latest Audi s3, have you looked up parts for those?

trouble is the r32 and s3 has larger rear discs iirc due to their being more weight at the back cause of the 4wd transmission.

Tarox has some though

brembo dont make brakes for cupra?

i swear whilst i was waiting for my cupra to get serviced the other week i saw and read a "Brembo brake upgrade kit" for the cupra... was about £1500 though..

I dont think that brake upgrade is actually recommended for cupra drivers, its listed on the seat website and from what i gather its aimed at the leons with smaller brakes?

You don't find the original brakes good enough?

Really?

Christ on a bike - I have never in 25 years of driving found anything that stops as well as a Cupra - on my test drive, me, the salesman and everthing else nearly went through the windscreen the first time I pressed the STOP pedal

Do you do a lot of track work?

I done that on a test drive in the FR so i can only imagine what the Cupra ones are like!

My stock PD140 brakes were also very sharp until I had the fluid replaced as part of a service. Never been the same since. :(

If you want tarox quality brakes specifically for the cupra search for some of the threads I have started. In there is a guy in america who runs a company that makes them.

air locked? Get them looked at mate, when I changed the fluid in mine it reminded me how much the brakes had deteriorated!

Don't get me wrong, they do stop good. Just not when you want them to stop again and again.

On the street they are more than capable, but after a good workout on the track the discs warp like crasy, and the pads wear out really quick. - Oh, and im a racecardriver in scandinavia, and do tend to come by a track with the cupra every once in a while. I just recently drove the pants of a Ferrari F430 in the wet - must be the tires, but oh it was fun. We switched cars afterwards, and the cupra absolutely annihilated the Ferrari in the wet.

So, i want some discs that dont warp now, since its time for replacing anyways. Im just not having any luck finding some

Robroy, you'll need to be looking at something like an AP setup then, most likely the 6 pot kit.

Not cheap but together with some decent fluid you'd be hard pushed to get fade. Could also try adding some ducting.

They did re-bleed the system twice, but was not the same. I'm due to do a full brake replacement soon, so will get re-bled again then.

Well that explains it then ;) track driving and road driving are two completely different things - I used to take my Elise on circuit so have an idea what you are on about.

Surely the Leons racing in the SupaCopa (or whatever it's called) have uprated discs and pads - as I understand they lap at near touring car pace so would need to have them.

Have you tried approaching Seat Sport to see if they can help?

Its like two different worlds! Especially when you bring slick tires to the picture as well. I'm not gonna destroy the cupra by putting on slicks though

Good idea by contacting seat sport - will try and give them a shout.

Fish: Hmm, i would rather try uprated discs, pads and fluids before going down the expensive road of upgrading the entire brake system. Even though this is the best solution, i find it to be too expensive. Ducting is a possibility as well - i think it will be necessary either way, and i will look into it. Perhaps the supercopas has some kind of ducting kit.

Anyone know of the brake system on the supercopas?
