Aftermarket headunit with Nav,Ipod connection (anyone got one of these!??)

I'm highly tempted to get one of these. Has anyone any comments on the sound quality of the units? Most of the discussion up to know seems to have concentrated on the satnav. Its main use will be playing music from my Ipod.

Well i was of the opinion that it didn't sound too bad if i'm honest, but a particular song came on yesterday - that played via my ipod/iphone with some decent earbuds sounds great, but through this unit it sounded really tinny and crap tbh - don't think it's the fault of the unit though (being fair!), more down to the fact i'm still using the o.e speakers so i guess what i'm trying to say is it's not really fair to judge it atm. If though after a speaker upgrade it still sounds duff then yeah, the unit sounds pretty crap Lol!!

Anyone ever had an issue with the nav app basically resetting itself for no good reason?

I used mine on saturday to go Lindholme lakes, and it got me there no problemo, but when i came out of the cafe/tackle shop to go round to the pond and choose a peg i was faced with the initial setup screens for the nav system - it was like it had reset itself and needed all the settings putting back in again!??

Hi, I purchased one of these units today. Do i just require a new fascia or do i need to order a metal cage housing aswell?

Just the fascia, ensure you get the clips as they dont come with the fascia and SEAT dont seem to tell you they are required.

Goin back to the sound quality question for a mo, then i have just ordered some Alpine coaxials to upgrade my front speakers (can't be arsed with FULL components even though i know they WILL sound better still), Once i have installed the Alpines and run them in i'll report back on how i think the unit sounds with some decent speakers.

one other point to note about these units is that if you switch to radio or other source the cd continues to play which is a tad annoying.

I fitted an different antenna after trying 3 different ones all so I could get signal on the move (this is for the DVB radio broadcast). This one is by far the best I now get almost no breakup of signal
Though I would share with anyone wanting better dvb signal link
I have mine permanently on the roof behind the radio antenna but it does a reasonable job sat on the parcel shelf.

Edit to above (not giving me the choice to edit the post for some reason):

Try part 2 only first, part 1 can be a nuisance because if you have skipped a song half way through it remembers this and continues from this point next time it plays this track.

Yes, it is a head unit issue which i think is due to it coming out of accessory mode when the car is off. May be wrong though.

However, the workaround i detailed in previous posts has worked for me. Ipod starts off from the right place every time.

Tried this with mine and my Ipod still won't remember where it was (well Ok the headunit won't!)

Fitted some better speakers Saturday and it does sound better than with o.e speakers, but you can still tell it's not a top drawer system, and for anyone who's a bit of an audophile then maybe with proper components and maybe a sub it would sound really sweet, but i'm not goona spend that kinda money to find out!

Also started finding the touchscreen on mine to be a bit of a PITA at times as it sometimes seems to stop responding and then other you keep getting stuff up that you don't want!

Have to admit i can see WHY they can knock em out for just over £300 when for something like this from a well known brand you might expect to pay twice/ three times as much - but it would be better.

much are you both after for the mfd facias? and is it the grey/silver coloured one? (same colour as below) and are they used or new?

Mine is used and would be hard to determine the exact colour as they are only slightly different but I dont think mine is that colour sorry. It is the MFD one you require tho

Mine's brand new and never been fitted, I ordered it thinking i'd need it but didn't so it's just sat there doing nothing really!

As MasterKm said it might be the same colour (it's a kind of satin metalic grey sort of colour), but i couldn't guarantee it 100%

I'd want £20 as there about £22 new anyway so if i could pretty much cover my costs i'd be happy.
