Air Con Pressue

Hi,

I have a Seat Ibiza 1.4 TSI FR 150 CAVF 2012.

Can someone please confirm what their air con pressure reads at?

I just had a look at my sensor reading and when revving up to 3.9k rpm it's at around 17bar, is this not a little too high?

Just to note, i read the pressure using VAG-COM

Have a look at the sticker in the engine bay that shows the refrigerant type and amount, can't remember what gas is in these cars. It would be very high for R134a but pretty reasonable for a blended refrigerant. I don't know too much about car AC systems but I'm guessing there's some sort of pressure regulating equipment inside the compressor to keep it at a constant pressure while the engine revs up and down.

Ideally i'm looking for a few people to measure their air con pressure using VAG-COM to compare.

If you let me know what the type of refrigerant is in the system, I can work out what it's correct running pressure should be and tell from that whether your system is running too high. I'm an AC engineer to trade, and quite curious to learn about the Ibizas refrigeration circuit anyway.

I'd expect it will still be 134a as they don't seem to have over come all the issues with its replacement yet.

I think that when I looked under the bonnet of my 2011 S4, I expected to find that it was something new, it was a strange number, but that translated back into being 134a.

That pressure is a bit higher than would expected I think - just gut feeling from using test chambers, though with cascade systems. But, if it was too high, the Hi/Lo switch would interrupt its operation.
