air con won't turn off

Jumped in the car this morning to go to work and the air con came on as soon as i started the car up, tried using the button to turn it off and sods law, it wouldn't go off.

When you turn the vent control knob, i.e from de-mist position to feet position the air con turns off, but as soon as i move the knob back to de-mist the air con comes back on and still won't turn off.

anyone any ideas or had something similar? my first though was the aircon button, but i hope not cos thats going to get costly to sort

Thats normal. When its on demist the aircon automatically comes on. Just have it back a little bit and it wont come on.

I know that its ment to come on when you move the control to the demist position, but up until today i could still press the air con button at it would turn off, even with the control being at the de-mist position. it now no longer does this.

I should also have said in my 1st post that i also can't turn it on with the button when the control knob is at any of the other settings.

so still confused!!
