Hi!
I was wonderin if any1 can help me!! I bought my mk seat ibiza just over a month ago but the air can wasn't workin. Naturally i took it to get regassed, and its working but they said that the operating pressures were too high and i'd need a brand new full system at a cost of over £1000 (new compressor, evac flush etc).
However the high pressure was between 12-14 (I think its in bar? but im not sure) and the low was 4 whilst the engine is running.

My question is, are these normal for an 03reg mk4 ibiza 1.4 sport and they are just wantin to rip me off??

The air con is workin at the moment tho!
Cheers all!
:help:
Oh and if it does need replacing does any1 know anywhere cheeper in W.Yorks?

normally if the compressor knackered the high pressure is low and low is high or the are equal, but having changed at least 20 in the last 18 months nothing would surprise me. a compressor is arounf the £600.00 mark fitting and gasing should take no more than 1.5 hours to complete including the flush

Lol! thanks for the reply! if its workin shall i use it till it fails? the compressor still kicks in and out with the fan etc and it seams to work just fine, they said the pressures could indicate that there s muck inside? i asked a mate and he said the pressures sounded fine?

lol, i bought it from a lease company (Lombards) so probably! cheers for the reply!

use it till it fails yer i think its the sanden compressor fitted on that, you might be able to get a refurb one by now??

Sweet! they cheap? im guessin not! lol would pages sell refurbs?

Wow thats alot cheaper than £600!! dont suppose u know a stockist? will i need a new evac?

Cool! can u hire the gassing systems to discharge it etc?

How do u find out the three letter code, just on that site now? eg-bby/aub etc?

thats your engine code. it will be on the boot floor or in the owners handbooks.. yours should be bby

do u need the a/c equipment to discharge the a/c? and would a garage(Inc main dealer) fit a recon compressor? would the evac need replacing at the same time?

no your not allowed release it into the atmosphere.and yer anyone can fit it its easy. just go with the compressor for now and see what happens. would think tbh it would be o.k.

Sweet! you have been a real help! thanks! ill run it till it conks out and think bout it then! to be honest, with the ammount of rain here im not sure it'll get much use! lol thanks again!
