Air Filter for PD Tdi Alhambra - Which one?!?! K & N or Green

Looking at replacing at its annual service, which will be at the end of this month...... Thoughts plse...

I would always say green, i have heard they are more MAF friendly.

(hmmm wondering if they do a dynatwist for it..... now that would be bizzare!)

Are Green Filters non-oiled cotton gauze filters then?

Yeah thats what I was thinking, I have a K & N on the Leon but the Alhambra is a LIFE LONG investment, (Well I do have 4 kids!!) So hence the caution.... Badger5 still the man to get green filters from? or does Banshee do them.

Green Filters are oiled. But not overly oiled

Yeah they are much more lightly oiled than a K&N for example, as the cotton does a better job.

And yep, badger5 is your man, i think he will give 5% discount to forum members too!

As Shaggy mentions the Green aren't as oiled as most. The idea is not to be over zelous when cleaning & oiling time come around.

Definitely stay away from the sponge type things like the RAM AIR.

So I could get the K & N just like I did on the Leon, as long as its not too over oiled...

Well I did use a K&N in my old ibiza without a problem. It went 3 full yrs (around 227000km) with MAF problems.

Except for a problem (that was only solved via a turbo replacement) I had absolutely no other engine related problem on that car, including no MAF problems.

this may sound daft but gona ask anyway...would a replacement panel filter(green for example) produce more of a sporty sound from a diesel?

Gosh old thread... well to answer you Zan - nope no noise difference at all - replaced my exhaust system an that only just gave the PD Bammer a slightly sportier sound, unlike the Leon..

Keep taking the OE paper filter out and shaking and vacuuming it but it gets so filthy so quick - and they're bleedin' expensive...

Cheers stu,i didn't think it would make much difference to the sound. My mate has a 55 plate Leon FR tdi 150 and his seems to have a nice sporty sound from standard.Must be a different standard exhaust or sumthin

hahah Sooty T.. long time no hear ..... Bammer K & N filter has had potatoes and plant growth removed from it - Well it was that blocked up with cr*p so cleaned and re oiled (very lightly) and re fitted.... no probs.... nothing, just the same as the leon.. Although that did in the very very early years have a maf replaced, but that was prior to the K & N filter being fitted....
