is it worth it ? found a nice checkered k&n style filter and was wondering would I lose mpg or gain any bhp ?, also never fitted anything like this so how would I go about doin it ? do I remove the entire standard airbox and just clip the new one on

thanks tom

Have you got the larger PD160 intake as well? I definitely noticed a difference with a Green Panel filter and the 160 upgrade with the plastic flap on the air intake cut out but I done them at the same time so cant comment on just the filter. You might notice a slight difference but its probably just the placebo effect. As for mpg and bhp again you wont notice much difference at all, maybe 1-2 bhp if your lucky (although some people claim 5-10) dont know if anyone has done a before and after run on this?

Keep the standard airbox just undo the screws on the right hand side slip and lift off the top slightly slide out old and slide in new air filter. Job Done.

After re-reading your comment i was wondering if you meant your looking at a K&N induction kit instead of the panel filter....? If so ignore the above! :D

If your going for a panel filter it is worth doing the PD160 upgrade as said by Murray.

I have had a K&N induction kit on my PD130 FR then changed to the PD160 intake and Jetex panel filter. In comparison I found the PD160 and panel filter to be a lot smoother when accelerating, if anything I felt the car was slower with an induction kit.

I doubt you would notice much difference with the standard intake.

I hav put a new standard filter in, might hav s look for a pd160 intake then, guess seres motors Is were I should look ?

cheers for all the replys :)

check Briskoda forum for the pd160 intake....dont buy new its too expesnive to justify what it is worth in performance or noise!

Panel filter does make asmall improvement, very easy to fit 3 or 4 bolts hold the top of the airbox, remove old thick white filter and replace with Green/k&N filter

PD160 intake makes minimal difference i found

thanks everyone will keep a look out for a pd160 intake :) would a standard filter be fine with this as I have only just replaced it ?
