Air filters

Hey,

Need help settling an argument and finding the best outcome..

My friend wants to put 2 airfilters in his ibiza but im telling him it wont mean he gets the noise off too because the ait flow will be split so both will be underpowered.

Could anyone help on this?

Y shapre tubing with 2 air filters or just the normal 1?

Never heard an engine with the 2 filters so cant comment but dont think it will make a great difference. Just makes you look a fool for trying to imitate the skyline / supra look with twin turbos

How does a filter get underpowered?

Using two filters won;t give him twice the noise, and its a completely pointless exercise but it won;t do any harm.

I kinda get where your coming from but your thinking about it backwards. The engine draws the air it requires through the filter. So by having two filters, the engine has more area to draw air from. It'll be less of a restriction than one filter (assuming same sizes)

The thing is, that one filter isn;t a huge restriction on the system anyway, so theres no need for two.

But like I said, it won't do any harm, or make any difference to how the car drives etc

My mk3 has 2 air filters as stock! lol. Makes no diference whatsoever
