Since I Picked up my car last weekend it has had an Airbag warning light on.

I've scanned it and it's read me fault code 01221 Which is the G179 crash sensor fault.

If I were to buy a G179 crash sensor from another Cupra R 225 the same as mine will it definitely connect up and work?

I've read that you need specific sensors to your airbag module but if they're from another LCR 225 only a year older than mine which is an 05 plate then it should fit shouldn't it.

If Anybody who has occurred this annoying fault before please help me out, I'm booked in for an MOT tomorrow which I obviously can't go through with as he's legit.

code

the units of the airbag system have a code
ie the crash sensor may have a part no of say 1j0 555 123 t but has a code abc
you can find this on vcds or through tps

Yeah I think I brought the wrong sensor, I saw one with the same part number but from a VW PASSAT. I fitted it yesterday but no luck the light is still on the dash.

I think I'm gunna have to bite the bullet and get the part from the stealers at £160 with my chassis number as a reference :(

As an aside to this, and obviously entirely your choice, but as long as the airbag light is NOT illuminated at the time of testing it does not fail.
Obviously this is a temporary fix and at your own discretion whether you choose to do it but it may buy you some time.
Looking at the dates it's most likely sorted now but for future reference.

Yeah mate all sorted now, ended up forking out £160 to the stealers for the right sensor.

Fitted it and the light came off and got it through it's mot.

Turns out my leaky seal was the cause as when I lifted the sound deadening up from under the seat the old sensor was soaked with water.

Both front seals will be getting replaced next week sometime.
