Did some work on the car the other day and found that airbag light was unplugged, low and behold plugged it in and it was on constantly. so plugged into vagcom and got this error

00588-airbag igniiter driver side (n95)
32-00-resistance too high

tried to clear it and it worked for 1sec then light came back on ran vagcom again and same fault came up.

anyone any ideas how to solve this?

investigate/check/test/fix the airbag igniiter driver side i guess ?

check wiring for a cut/short too

i know there is a few wires goin into the steering column that look like they have been cut and taped together im wondering if one of these attach to the igniter and need sorting?
on the plus side there were no other faults on vagcom!!

spose this is the perks i get for payin 600 quid for a car with little history[:@]

just looked through the wiring diagrams in my haynes manual and it doesnt state anything for an airbag circuit no relay no wiring nothing does anyone know which colour wires go to the drivers side igniter?

Happened to me, is the wire connected to the air bag in the steering wheel?

Happened when I fitted my OMP steering wheel, had a resistor with it but didn't work.... ended up covering in light up with some tape lol. But when vag com you can switch it off but I haven't got around to doing it.
