I have a 58 plate sportrider 1.9tdi and i do lots of stuff with vag.com and have done all my mates Golf/Fabia vrs and Audis but when i go into adaption on vag.com and select the channels to switch on alarm chirp on unlock/lock nothing happens after changing the code from 0 to 1 which is on, and than save.

I assumed it was possible as the measuring blocks show it and up from that setting it shows the indicator flash for lock and unlock as on and this indeed does work?

just done 2 others this weekend and puzzled my car wont chirp on lock/unlock, so my question is does the sportrider have a alarm ?? to chirp?? car is new to me as only got it last saturday eve.

thanks

Edit maybe i should have put this in the vag.com section ?

My Sportrider didn't have an alarm.
Best way to check is to open the bonnet, Prop it open and lock the car with the fob.
If it has an alarm it should go off.

The chirp will drive you nuts, believe me

I had the "chirp" on and "chirp, chirp" off on my polo and its not good when you come home late at night or leave for work early in the morning. It winds people up big time.

I have it only for locking as I always used to get paranoid if I locked it and wasn't sure I saw the indicators flash so would do it again then deadlock it then unlock and start again! I also didn't want to advertise I was unlocking my car to people and don't need to hear I am unlocking as am walking towards the car not away. Couldn't live without it now so much more reassuring for that OCD we all have about our cars being safe! Ops sorry making you feel worse now, you can always install an alarm!
