In Australia we don't have any kind of walk away Auto Lock or arrival Auto Unlock feature - just standard touch the handle to lock or unlock.

Watching this video here:
I am curious do all UK Cupra Formentor VZx have this feature ?

Or does this have to be unlocked ? And if so how ?

My VZ2 has to option to autolock when you walk away, but I don't trust it, so I've disabled it and just touch the doorhandle to lock the car. This means I don't have to turn around when I walk away to see if the damn mirrors have folded or not.

My car also has auto unlock and lock when you approach and walk away from it. Like you, I also don’t trust this feature and if it wasn’t part of my car’s standard spec, I’d never ever have paid extra to have it. The only time I re-enable it is when my car goes back to the dealership for its annual service. I disabled it again as soon as the service has been carried out.

Another of those ‘must have’ features I could easily live without………

I coded my MY21 car to have it, but it only auto-unlocks... Even though I did the necessary coding and enable the options to be visible in HMI (you need to toggle them to on after coding) the auto-lock never worked.

I suspect in newer cars it will work

Coded mine with OBD11 no problems. works perfectly, I'm in Australia.
Thank you Darren. Whether I trust this feature or not - fact remains I keep forgetting to lock my car myself. The touch sensor isn't always sensitive and sometimes I'm just in a rush. So in reality - even if this feature "sometimes" didn't work it would be better than me never locking it anyway.

That's exactly the reason I wanted it.

I coded it (one click apps don't always work).

Buy the following:

In addition to LOCK / UNLOCK ON WALKING AWAY / TOWARDS VEHICLE I have coded the following:

1/ DEACTIVATE OVERTAKING RIGHT PREVENTION - Car no longer slows down when overtaking with ACC running
2/ LANE ASSIST SETTINGS - The lane assist function remembers the last setting
3/ LANE ASSIST WARNINGS - No orange icon showing in the dash that lane assist is off
4/ “IGNITION ON” BEEP WARNING OFF WHEN DOOR IS OPEN & ENGINE IS ON - No Beeping when driver’s door is OPEN & engine is ON
5/ “IGNITION ON” BEEP WARNING OFF WHEN DOOR IS OPEN & IGINITION IS ON - No Beeping when driver’s door is OPEN & ignition is ON
6/ REMAINING FUEL QUANTITY
7/ SWITCH OFF SOUND ACTUATOR
8/ ACTIVATE EASY ENTYR DRIVERS SEAT
9/ HIGH BEAM ASSIST - REMEMBER LAST SETTING
10/ A/C RECIRCULATION – REMEMBER LAST SETTING
11/ LANE CHANGE ASSIST - REMEMBER LAST SETTING
12/ ACTIVATE BURGLAR ALARM
13/ DISABLE ANDROID AUTO RESTRICTIONS
14/ MAKE AUTOMATIC CENTRAL LOCKING SELECTABLE IN THE INFOTAINMENT MENU

Following up, my friend has a Skoda Octavia VRS mk4 that comes with the feature from factory and it too doesn't lock - only unlock on approach.

Same goes for my partner's Skoda Enyaq VRS - it unlocks but doesn't lock.

Mate can't thank you enough just got my OBD11 V3 Pro Pack - have done the coding you suggested and working perfectly. It amazes me that this kind of stuff is disabled on such a nice car in AU. Can you shed light where you got the step by step from so I can do some more long coding ? It looks like One Click Apps is useless and most of it says "not available for your car" but long coding works perfectly (and without using any credits !) I reckon one click apps is nothing more than easier long coding.

If only I sharpened up on my German I'd probably be able to figure out all the steps slowly. Got a link to where you got your steps from ?

Nice list. But the only thing I like to add is conformation sound when the car is being locked. But think sfd2 is causing issue to do it

Because sometimes indeed do not trust if the car is now locked or not when walking away

Maybe you've heard this before, but I recommend staying away from One Click Apps.
It's not documented/known which control units it would touch on the background, and it has the potential to break working things, and reversing the changes it has done may not be as straightforward as it seems.

Cheers,
Serdar

That is the only thing I wanted that I couldn't get to work. Tried everything possible with long coding options on 2 different cars - spent a day on it.

I've never had it on my Ateca but use the touch sensor to lock. Buzz of the mirrors going in. It's locking and if you think did I hear the mirrors move in for locked, glance back and do a visual check. Opening is pretty fast, clasp the door handle, click unlocks, put your stuff in the back and you are away.

Yes agree keep away from one click apps, code only

Hi team,

Im very interested in getting auto lock when walking away for my Australian 2024 Formentor. I understand that overseas models have this feature in their menus. Does anyone know why Australian software does not have it? Has anyone requested this to be added to future software updates? Is there even a new update coming?

Also overseas model owners speak of unreliability of walk away locking. @Darren Lloyd or others can you comment on reliability of the feature?

I've also been warned it will void warranty using ODB11 to change it. Is there truth to this?

Regards
Justin

I thought I'd disabled auto-lock on my car, but maybe the PV4 update had re-activated it, because when I looked in the menu system the other day it was 'ON'.
However, a couple of days ago I walked away from the car and IT FAILED TO LOCK ITSELF. Untrustworthy.

Generally I touch the doorhandle to lock the car anyway - it's much easier to know that the car is locked when you do that. On the particular occasion I'm referring to the car was in my driveway and I was just testing the autolock feature - it failed the test. (worryingly, sometimes it works)

My advice to you is 'forget it' - it's a pain in the butt.

The question is whether you can enable it with coding or whether it falls into an SFD2 area. If you code you can always reverse what you did so that warranty stuff you can ignore since you reverse it if a situation comes up. A one click app falling over itself is something different. You wouldn't be able to reverse what you did.

You have to study the coding on other cars of that year. How I got one touch work on my Ateca 2017 where it hadn't been implemented. Early days for Kessy then and Seat when off on one.

Suggest you study Spanish Seat site or German sites if you dont get an answer here. I see the good folk have already been doing that above on other aspects. There was also a pdf I found on the Formentor in German I posted up on the Formentor coding thread. That may now have been extended. I must say I'm a bit nervous of walk away locking or unlocking myself. Don't have it but those candy floss one click apps may offer it with risks.

My understanding (and happy to be wrong) is that the importer specs the cars hence why many different motors from different countries are configured differently.

I have spoken to SEAT UK and there take on this was very simple, if you make a change to the setup of the car (lets say you change how the DRL's work and there is a problem with the DRL's then the warranty is voided. However if you have an engine failure your covered. bottom line if they can link your code change to a failure they will try and void the warranty. However that my be different in your country.

The question is whether you can enable it with coding or whether it falls into an SFD2 area. If you code you can always reverse what you did so that warranty stuff you can ignore since you reverse it if a situation comes up
Whilst I fully agree with this in SFD1 World my understanding in SFD2 in Europe (once access is granted via diagnostic tools) is that you have to tell VAG Servers about the changes you are applying (unlike sfd1 where you are just asking for access) if that is true (That is my understanding but may be wrong) then the server will know you have made a specif change request and then another to undo it (why would you do that).
