Thought i should share some pics and progress of my car.

Go the Pro Alloy cooler. Went for the larger core as im sure i can get it to fit even with the air con and because of my turbo plans over the next few months.

Well it fits with the air con still there. Slighly modified cross member, i.e a forge one. It is spaced a long way and ive not checked bumper clearance yet, but nothing a bit of cutting cant solve!!

Im mounting it lower and centrally tmoz. Im not happy with it off to the side and that more air flow can be had if it was to be lower

This is my latest mod. Vented rear discs and calipers. Pain in the ass, but i knew it could be done. Has anyone else done it before??? If you want to know what components to use, it will cost you!!!

I will try to get around to painting the carrier tmoz too and another few coats on the caliper.

Comments please!!??

Alex

Whats your plans for the car then mate as i'm looking into tuning my ibiza cupra r at min.

Keep me updated on the cooler if it fit ok with a/c an that as i want the biggest poss.

Also where you get it from an £??

that cooler is massive alex! the brakes look good too................. are they the same rear calipers that i've got on my car?

Nice. I have lower my cooler too, does sit way to high.

I like the rear brake setup alot. Explain a little more please. I can pay in kindness for info. :)

the vented rears mount onto the stock cupra rear hubs ok...?
just need the calipers and carriers to suit i guess.

The Brakes are still on test. All seem fine so far. Pedal is even firmer with them on. Seems fo have helped on brake dive too.

They are TT calipers with different carriers off something else. Discs are re-drilled TT ones. Same as Anni Golf, LCR, Octavia.

The cooler fits with the AC. Bumper needed quite a bit of cutting.

Went for a Spec stage 3+ clutch with a Fidanza alloy flywheel. Revs so fast and pulls away fine with no judder or on/off feel. Always hated the idle chatter from this sort of setup.

I had the gearbox rebuilt with a Peloquin diff. Best thing ive ever done. Gets power down on corners now.

Seems that a full rebuild (i didnt do the work nor did the shop) doesnt mean fitting a new radial shaft seal or even refitting it properly. The place held no responsibilty for taking the box out again after i had just put it back in in my spare time. So it came out again at lunch time and then back together after work. The seal was fooked. The small spring had slipped over the neck and damaged the rubber as the shaft spins. Hard to see in the pic. Really pissed me off and we wont ever use the same place for rebuilds again.

Also fitted the new cross member with powerflex bushes and all the brakets removed.

Polished inlet and the new intercooler hoses:

Its all about the Defi Gauges

Let me know what you think ;)

Dont think he is gonna let on, its taken him a while to figure it out.

I wish i knew, cause i could do with better rears i think now.

There are a few little new bits.

Performance Tuner mag borrowed me and the car for a play over at Bedford Autodrome. Had a cracking day. The main aim was to see what the diff was like and see how the 1.8T lump peformed in different cars. There was a golf MK2, Lotus Elise, a TT, Mine and a Palmer race single seater. Its not in the next issue, but the one after, so you can see how they all compare then!!! Also got to rag a brand new M3 about without esp. All they do is go sideways.

With regards to the rear brakes. I wanted to see how the bias coped so i pulled the abs fuse. Well they are way biased to the back. Locking up straight away. But they are fine with the abs connected.

Latest mod is something special from forge. Bill (Badger 5) developed a baffled oil catch tank with them and i fancied one. Luckily they still had the drawings. I just need a baffled sump with a hole for the oil drain then i will connect it all up.

was this the performance tuner review, that apparently and not sure what happened, but they messed up the description and put 250bhp from a standard or k03 turbo?

will dig out the mag later to find the exact description.....I was very excitied when I saw the blue ibiza on the front cover, but disappointed as I saw they got a few things wrong! guessing that was the PT staff not doing their research or listening properly!

good read though and well done:)
