Does anyone know the correct size allen key for removal of the caliper guide pins on the FSIII type caliper?

TIA.

Craig

7mm, I had to get one from Halfords (can't remember if it's 3/8" or 1/2" drive), they're not normally supplied in a 'standard metric allen key set'.

Ignore the above, this is for the ATE caliper, apologies.

Also related. What size and thread of screw is used to retain the disc on hub when wheels are off. I understand that it is common to have to destroy this screw to get old discs off.

Well, an impact screwdriver will usually get the little screw out in good shape. It is only there to retain the disc while you replace the wheel, the wheel bolts do the real retaining. A bit of duct tape to hold the disc in place while you wrestle the wheel back on and line up the holes will do just as well (but take it off once the wheel is on :)
