2#Its fitted and does not turn off with ignition?

you'll need to swap the red and yellow bullet connectors round to sort the ignition problem. ie red-yellow and yellow-red as opposed to red-red yellow-yellow.

the headunit should jsut plug straight into the standard wiring as far as i know. My alpine does :)

The 9812 is a powerful beast (4x60w) IIRC had many many yrs ago and for this reason Alpine say to power it straight from the battery. It can be run off the oem wiring just battery will go dead quick smart if you have it flat out without the engine running.

At the wiring there is a permanent supply or one powered by the ignition (Accessory switch) to allow it to turn off with the ignition.

I've been struggling with this issue for 6months now, every time I take the key out the HU forgets all my settings. It's very annoying as the connectors won't come out so I can't swap the Red and the Yellow cables. If anyone has any tips or ticks that would be great.
(My HU plugs direct into the car).

My HU turns off when I remove the key from the ignition, it just forgets things like what track I was playing etc.

Thats because it dont have a perminent live, it only has the switched live. You need both. Thats why you need red to yellow and yellow to red. One of them is a switched live and the other is the perminent live for the memory.

I have proven that with my old pioneer HU, that would forget not only what track I was on but also the audio settings (I had 2 cars at the time to test it in). My Blaupunkt remembers audio settings at least.

So the yellow that meant to go directly to the battery needs to be switched with the yellow? does that mean i need to take the red directly to the battery instead?
