Hi,
New to this forum... Can anybody help!!!
Engine warning light has come on and i have seriouc lack of power and puffs of black smoke come from exhaust
HAD ON DIAGNOSTIC AT SEAT BEFORE DUE TO SAME PROB..... fault was a dirty MAP sensor... once cleaned was ok but 4 months down line it has started again!!

The question i have is i`ve cleaned the map sensor which was oily, with elecrical solvent and put back in but no joy... is this because i need to do a reset first to clear the codes?????

Help would be much appreciated.

hI,
It`s the map sensor not the maf.... i was wondering the same tho why it was getting oily?
I had an oil change before the probs started come to think of it and maybe overfilled it.
Even tho i`ve cleaned it or just for example i replace a faullty sensor, does the fault codes need clearing ?

A garage i use for m.o.t has a snap-on diagnostic machine and he reset it and was fine until the following day when obviously the fault was still their but that was before i took it to seat who pinpointed more accuratley on there machine.

sorry your wrong, MAP Sensor?. MAF = Mass Air Flow. you find MAF Sensors fitted to the vast majority of cars these days.

If you car has a MAP sensor fitted then maybe thats whyyour car isn't working

Yes MAP SENSOR... FITTED ON PIPE IN FRONT OF RADIATOR ON 1.9 TDI, think the pipe is the outlet that goes from the turbo! I know what a maf sensor is . This is fixed to air filter box... I even have report from SEAT saying map sensor was cleaned.

Light has gone out today and runs spot on nowanyway so think the cleaning solved it for now.
