After much deliberation have just re-tyred the Standard fit 16" Alloys with New Tyres.
After a bit of Research have chosen The Continental Premium Contact 2 - 205/55/16 V Rated Tyres.
This Tyre seemed to score an all round 4.5 out of 5 on a few review sites and has 3D tread technology to aid dispensing of water.
Having moved from Orignal Michelin E3A to my previous set of tyres which were Continental Premium Contacts version 1, I am hoping that these Contact 2's not only do the business with performance but also soak up the miles. Anyone Else using these.?

Also at a later date I am planning to replace the Alloys with either a 17" or and 18" Alloy, cost difference for 18's works out at £12 per Rim.
Can 18's go straight on the car without any modifications.
Woudl the speedo be affected by the bigger wheels.?
I have also lately heard that tyre costs for 18's have come right down now that the tyres are becoming more common. is this True, also whats the price difference and most importantly what is the best 18'' Tyre to use.

Thanks Everyone:)

Just had the fronts changed on mine. I fitted the Goodyear F1 GSD3's which I managed to get for £70.50 each fitted which I thought was a very good price and slightly cheaper than the cheapest internet price I could find. Initial impressions are better grip resulting in sharper turn in but I have yet to try them in the wet.

Regarding 18"s yes they fit the car without mods and as long as the correct profile tyre is fitted there should be no problems with the speedo, in fact quite a few Altea owners on here have 18's so they will tell you the sizes etc.

The Goodyears are excellent. I had those last time on mine. That price is pretty amazing for Goodyears, mine cost around £100 each. That is for 17s though.
If anybody is after a set of 17" wheels, give us a pm.
I was thinking of giving Toyos a go next time, as they work really well on my other car.
