Blowing noise on start up? Not being funny but its not the secondary air pump?

Happy new turbo tho. :D

thats what i thought mate, but it does it when warm as well, cant hear it on idle, only when you rev a tiny bit you hear a slight blowing noise

one of the faults i cleared when i first got the car back was the secondary air pump, but iv drove it twice since and the fault hasnt reappeared

cheers mate, happy new turbo for me :D

Not sure if this turbo has the hole in the back of the turbo for the t3 sensor but make sure thats 100% tight and sealed.

just got off the phone too them, they were saying this isnt their, the only difference between this turbo and the old one (apart from size etc ..) is the actuator on my old one had 2 vac lines, this on only has one and the other got blanked off

also asked about the lamba sensors, they are in and fine, they were saying it wont be them, so god knows where this blowing is coming from, hopefully they will find it later when i take it down

Dave, have you sorted your problem yet?

well im gonna see if the maf unplugged at dinner with the 3" filter sorts the maf issue (which i think it will), just a bit concerned about the blowing

they were saying it could be a few things, dp/turbo gasket, flexi on downpipe leaking, bigger bore manni just sounding like its blowing but not, map is to c@ck, their basically saying it could be anything, so taking it back tonight for them to check

EDIT - forgot to mention, it doesnt do it on idle, or if it does its too quiet to hear, only does it when you give it a slight rev while in neutral, cant hear it driving either

someone want to look at this to see if its revealing anything? nothing out of the ordinary i can see though

p.s how do i upload CSV files?

Tried the following at dinner

disconnected battery, taken maf and filter off, put new maf and filter on, waited to ecu to reset, connected battery back up, done a TBA and tried starting it again

started for 5 seconds then just cut out again, swapped them over and it started fine again???

couldnt try it without a maf as i had no connector for the 3" maf and tip

got told by jabba to see if its the correct maf (part number) so going to check that later on,

Craig, the MAF appears duff, when it's plugged in it's chucking a 'Too rich' code. Running without the MAF would just throw more fuel in as it sits on the rich side of things when in limp.

A correctly opperating MAF will pull out the excess fuel to bring things back into line.

Problem is though, a standard map on 440cc's is never going to run right without mapping. Agree the MAF is suspect, but you can change the workng unit for the 70mm unit and fit it to the 80mm unit. That was you've eliminated that problem.

I'd try the standard injectors too, they only take 10 mins to fit!

Aye, I just jumped in on the replied haven't read it all just going off what I heard in a poor signal convo last night lol.

I'd be fitting the 70mm MAF element in the 80mm housing and seeing how that goes, if its still a bit funny i'd also give the standard injectors a go before looking any deeper.

Can't say I have personal experience of 440cc injectors on a standard map, but if its like the effects of large jetting bogging down and cutting out are genral symptoms of it running way too rich.

You'll be running way to rich at the moment. Put the standard injectors back in and don't cane it. Log lambda values to check it ain't running too lean.
Just my 2p but the AM04 should be fine with lcr injectors 380cc @ 3 bar, why use big turbo injectors on a relatively small - medium turbo car.
