Had another coil pack go this morning, the second in two months [:@] ! First coil pack went in January on the first cylinder, and had another go today this time on the third cylinder. Its all sorted now ordered a new one which came just after lunch  , just need cylinders two and four now for the full set (hope not).

Anyone else had this problem, it seems to be eating them at the moment?

Was that when your car was under warrenty? Because my car is 2002, and would be out out of warrenty i imagine. I just ordered another pack myself

Wish I'd have just took a trip to the local dealers now after hearing they should have replaced them, knowing my luck they would have piked out of it though

Just a little thing i did on mine first though..... i loosened the connector to a couple of the coil packs so that when the stealer plugged their diagnostics in then it would show some misfires. I apparently had 3 on mine [B)]

Got all 4 done then

I've had all 4 go in the last 2 months. SEAT did extend the warranty on the coil packs to 5yrs so your 2002 car will be covered.

Next time your near the dealers, stick your blown coil pack in and limp in to the dealers and they'll change it there and then.

when a coil pack goes can you tell staright away there is a problem, how do you know?

Car looses alot of power and sounds very lumpy as its only running on 3 cylinders. Engine management light will also start flashing and will continue to do so until the faulty coil is changed...... oh and you also get a strong smell of sulpher too.

Car should be fine to drive, at least either home or to the nearest dealer.

cheers beaker, the flashing engine light is dead give away + power loss.

If you want to be sure, then you can unplug each coil pack one at a time and start the engine. ;)

When you unplug the working coils the car will barely run and probably stall, (as you are now running on 2 cylinders!)

But when you unplug the faulty coil there will be no change, the car will still be lumpy but alot more stable. (as you will be running on 3 cylinders)

I hate the SEAT coil packs,[:@] you just never know when they are going to go! Worth keeping a spare in the boot so you don't get caught out ie; when on holiday or a long trip anywhere.
