Okay, I asked a few questions about the VR6 conversion a while ago.
I have since had a re-think. I now want to do a 1.8T conversion.
This means I have to ask all you lovely people about parts etc.
Basically, I know the engine will bolt straight in but I don't really know much about much when it comes to swapping over the engines.
What goes on with the wiring?
Do I need to change the fuel pump?

I need alot of help and I hate having to ask but any replies would be appreciated.

(He who asks is a fool for five minutes, he who doesn't is a fool forever) and all that.

i think (and thats a BIG think) there all AJQ engines.

passat 1.8t
audi A3 / A4 1.8t
ibiza cupra 1.8t
golf mk4 4 1.8t

I wouldnt mind some more info on a 1.8t conversion myself, so wil keep my eye on this.

What breaks you going for Jordo ??

(would be converting the 8v also seeings how the 16v is....well \/)

Something rings a bell with AYP and mk3 Cupra engine.

Golf engine goes in, just inlet is opposite way. Ibiza_95 put one in his.
Audi engine goes in Alex_Shepz (spelling?) put one in his recently.

Both available in there readers rides.

Martin M and Roly put one in theres, but Im sure they used mk3 Cupra engines.

I wonder if a mk4 Cupra engine would fit. 1.8t or Pd engine.

1.8T MK2 Conversion
useable engines are from golfs, ibizas, tt's, s3's, and leons

all the others are longitudinal and have different layouts so stay clear of those...
and obviously if youre using the gearbox, stay clear of the 4wd models if buying a complete engine and gearbox

fuel pump can stay if its a 16v, if its an 8v youll have to see if its the same pump as a 16v, and if not check whether it can flow similarly to the 16v pump

useful thread: http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=182668&highlight=conversion

also search for similar titles by authors, martin M, and roly

The most likley one for me would be the Vr6 conversion. Dont fancy charging the 8v although its not out the question.

Would just need a shoping list and get the bits over a period of time then have it all fitted.
