I have got an aux in lead for £9.99 from dreaded ebay here>>>>http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....m=200125309898&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=010

so it plugs into the rear of the alana head unit and I can plug the ipod into it from the ipod headphone socket

the thing is, this doesn't fool the alana that it has a changer fitted and comes up with "CHANGER"

so my question is what pins do I need to connect together on the din plug to fool it ??????

please help me !!

have you earthed it (or is there an earth wire?)? I had to do that with mine, to fool the "bus" into thinking the cd changer was permanently attached

When I put mine in I tried it without the earth wire, and "Changer" flashed on the screen. When it was earthed it worked straight away. Different to your box of tricks though. This is the one I got <<Here>>

It crossed my mind to open it, but its pretty well sealed - and i have this habit of breaking things through curiosity... i reckon it was made for a total of about £2 - Canny profit if you can start making them yourself!

well the aux input cable came today and I fitted it thanks (TheCraig)

it works but the volume is quite low, the ipod is on max and I need the Alana on almost max to get music to hear on the motorway

then when the TP comes on it makes your ears bleed even with TP volume on MIN

anyone ???

You're so brave! I'm getting my dealer to fit mine, it's taken them three attempts so far...wherever they get their parts from they keep sending the wrong one! Doh. Even with my cars Chassis number, DOH!
Hopefully the next time they get it fit. Good luck getting it sorted!

well it's sort of sorted, I found out how to tweak the volume up in itunes then re-sync the ipod

the volume is better now but the radio is still a fair bit louder than the ipod :(

well sounds (haha) like you're having more luck than I am! Three attempts it's taken and a total time of 2 WHOLE days to get to this stage. It better be right. Apparrently it's something to do with the facelifted Polo it's got a revamped radio (similar to the one in the golf) and the wiring or something electrical anyways, so i suggested, could you not order the one for the golf instead of the polo so I'll see what happens when it goes in, maybe they'll send the right one? who knows? My car was bought before VW started fitting standard iPod/Aux in Connections on their cars, so twice now I've been unlucky.
2 months after I bought the Ibiza SEAT released standard iPod/Aux in
now my polo????? lol
