Looking at changing over to a focus st3 or astra vxr. I have been offered £9800 part exchange on the vxr for my 2006 ibiza cupra with 14000 miles on, does this seem about right?

I am in the same boat. Got offerd 10K part ex but the car is worth around 11-12. I would sell private!

Its not too bad, I only paid just over 11k for it 20 months ago, will maybe go down the private route but its alot more hassle

From what Ive seen, build quality, reliability and service seems to be better, never thought I would say that about seat!!! My mk3 ibiza cupra was always the best, just wish I had never went to the mk4 really, but had fun with it and now time to change!!!

And this would still make you want to buy a Ford?

Dont think it will be a ford, salesman at arnold clark said no to a test drive unless I sorted out finance first, I tried to tell him that I have cash and dont do finance, but he then said I still couldnt guarentee me buyuing the car!!! wtf I thought and left, dont think they will sell many cars in that dealership!!

Thats one hell of a loss for you then chillcupra, Im not too fussed with the loss I will have, once finished haggling it should only be £1000 in 20 months

I am selling it private been offerd 11,800 but should be able to get 12 so then i have only dropped a grand. Honda dealers give crap part exs!

Have you had to advertise much or did you have a buyer lined up for it? Im not sure about the hassle of going throught all that, but I could sell it after I have picked up the new car maybe :D

Ford dealers are a bunch of w*nkers. Told me they cant take money off a car unless I say I want it at which point he will talk to the manager. Its more like give me a good price and I will tell you wheter I want it or not.

Anyway Ford build quaility is not all that good coming from a ford company car driver here. But then again Seat is below that of VW and audi. the build quality is there, however the materials used are alot cheaper and about the same level to that of a ford focus is not slightly higher.

Next Ibiza will fix that ;)

WTF do you want with a VXR Astra

I'll give you some advice:- DO NOT BUY THE ASTRA! ;)

I have driven the following:-

Astra VXR
Focus STI
Leon Cupra (new shape)
Civic Type R (new shape)
Audi A3 2.0T Quattro S-line

The worst of which by a good 10 miles was the VXR Astra.

It felt unresponsive when pulling from 1.5-3K rpm, the build quality was terrible and to top it all I felt really chavy when I got out.

Suggest you go and try some more cars before you put your money down as you may get upset if one of your mates buys any of the competition and takes you for a spin in it.

Ps the best 2 were the Civic and the Leon for 2 different reasons.

You should also look at the following cars, as in my opinion, these are all better than the Astra VXR, as I too had driven one about 2 months ago. It's fair to say that the Vauxhall left a lasting impression, in the wrong ways...

Look at these:
RenaultSport Megane 225
VW Golf GTi ES30 / or R32
Mazda 3 MPS

Totally agree with that, don't waste your money on a Pauxall Astra [B)]

but unfortunately on the day he was due to collect it he was in court for drink driving waaaaaah we still rib him for it

Well after test driving endless amounts of cars, The Focus ST-3 has won my vote. I know they drink fuel but not too bothered about that as I do 5000 miles a year. My ibiza cupra has been sold to my wee bro at dealer price so Im happy its staying in the family!!!
Should be ordering a new one soon with a load of extras too :D
