every car comes with a back anti roll bar if you go to big it will make it understeer or worse but i will go 22mm

Don't you mean a front anti roll bar? Fitting a large rear ARB won't make a FWD car understeer. It's stiffening the front which does that. Stiffening the back with a rear ARB will give you oversteer if the weight transfers to the front (lift off oversteer).

im very interested in this thread and new to modding, i want to improve the handling of my ibiza (very limited funds) but im getting very confused as to whats best?

it appears: a rear ARB will make the most noticeable difference??

Correct mate. A rear ARB makes a good difference in the handling :D

Eibach and H&R Front Only...

Hi Guys

How come H&R and Eibach only make a front one for Ibiza's?
I actually contacted both of them through their dealer here and their answer was the same:
"A rear ARB will not improve anything on the Ibiza as it already has a full back-axle and hardening it will make the car's handling worse"

You think they are just saying that because they only have the front one? :headhurt:

I can garentee that a rear ARB WILL improve the handling mate.

As far as I know there are only 2 people who make them for thw mk4 ibiza. Whiteline do a adjustable one with 3 settings (the one I have) and I think Jabba do a fixed one.

fitted a Jabba RARB to mine yesterday; it corners noticeably flatter (obviously), turns in more positively and just feels more stable/planted when cornering.

my brother had a drive and decided he wanted to play with the lift-off oversteer. Even at fairly low speeds (~20mph) it will oversteer if you're aggressive with the throttle but the ESP gathers that up easily, switching ESP off meant the back came out a lot more :D

Even with ESP on there's still scope to adjust the car with the throttle if desired/needed and having seen what happened at pretty low speeds in good conditions with warm tarmac and warm tyres I doubt the ESP will be getting switched off...

This is with standard (diesel) Cupra suspension but a SEAT Sport strut brace.

Just installed my front Eibach ARB with seat sport Strut and I must say that I'm surprised!

I was expecting minor to no change but the car handles way better, understeer has been reduced and the steering came to life, I cat get into curves much quicker and with more accuracy...

Strange isn't it...

well, let's try make this thread alive again! Have searched allot about ARB-s, but it is difficult to come to solid conclusion without knowing how any off you drive compared to my driving.(both stylewise and skillwise)

We got here few opinions that RARB increase oversteer and FARB increase understeer. I wonder: If I put RARB on my Ibiza TDI mk4 will my car oversteer at some speed level (or trottle reduce) because of decreased grip on back of the car or is it because of increase of grip on the front of the car??? (compared to stock!)

In other words does it decreases grip on one side or it increase grip on oposite side so we got under/oversteer?
I will try to explaine what bugs me:
If that tweak increases grip on back then oversteer came at larger speed and if it decrease the grip on back than oversteer came at smaller or same speed?
Can someone with experience put some light on this question?

I find the fact that my stockkCupra has virtually no understeer quite a confidence boost. Know that no matter how hard you drive it, your almost certain never to lose the back end

ARB's reduce the grip of the axle they are installed on. They are an easy and relatively cheap way to balance the front to rear grip levels of the car and help achieve neutral steer.

A RARB will reduce the rear axle grip and reduce understeer/increase oversteer and a FARB will reduce front axle grip and reduce oversteer/increase understeer. In your example if the car oversteered it would be due to a reduction in grip at the rear axle not an increase in grip at the front axle.

Thank you very much! You have confirm what I suspect.:cheers:
I think I don't need one in that case - due to my prefered driving style mainly on B roads and with no intension to drive on karting race course.
