any ideas? strange/almost lumpy acceleration - 1.4 mpi

come up to some traffic light went to pull away and revved up to about 2k as i pulled away, then the revved intermittantly just drop as i was applying the power, causing my to nearly stall - next to no power at all for that second or so. further up the road in 4th at about 30, same thing was happening, happened several times for about a couple seconds. theres no warning lights on and there is as near as dammit a full tank of petrol and had the belts changed less than 1000 miles ago.

dropped mother home and went back out to see if it would happen again, but it was fine.

apparantly the same thing happened when my sister was driving down the dual carrageway last week at about 60mph.

car is the 1.4 mpi (with a massive 63hp!!!!) w plate ibiza with 33k on the clock.

any ideas as to the problem?
