TBH I've never tried and I doubt I ever would even on a private road. The idea of going that fast in a car scares me silly. Especially after what I've just read. I'd much rather be on a motorbike at that speed !! At least you know modern sports bikes are going to stop in a straight line from 140mph, (even on stock stoppers).

not having a go at all or arguing, but i would never ever rather be on a bike than a car, ESPECIALLY at silly speeds!

i find that speed easier on bike after doing numerous track days you do notice that you have more focus and vision with helmet on. no big thick pillars blocking view. also gets there and back down to safe speeds far quicker
seen 155mph on cbr600
145mph in tolly 20vt
145mph in ibiza tdi

all on the clocks.

all i know is i'd rather have a metal shell around me if i crashed! [touch wood i don't ever] coming off a bike not knowing where i'd end up ooooohhh doesn't bare thinking about

high warren!

when i was at bruntingthorpe air stip... braking at a real 153mph is quite scary and the brakes certainly didn't like it (think of the heat!!!) but all the same coped better than i expected!

as for the front end getting light... i must admit i THINK* i almost felt it get ever so slightly lighter... something i haven't felt before! but then again my car is lowered on coilovers which without a doubt makes the LCR feel a lot more planted on the road, especially at high speeds!

so i guess at these sort of speeds on a OEish LCR it would be a different story?!

something that makes me worry now i think about it!

i know the feeling mate, I only ever made 145 from the impreza due to it's very short STi gearbox ratios. All about acceleration and not top end :)

anything over 120 on the track/runway was diabolical for braking, and that was with Brembsports 4-pot calipers front and 2-pot rears with ebc pads.

Must admit, although the Ibiza is only a 130PDi, it has got very re-assuring brakes even at over 100.

mine stopped going at 240 kph - so thats 150 mph on the clock.

but I think the gearing wouldn't allow much faster - I was close to redline on that run.

HPA Motorsports in Canada make a longer gearset for the VAG 02M that should allow 180-190 mph (if the power is enough)

nice one mate - i've seen about the same on my R6. but my old hayabusa was a different story - I had a 1999 model so no speed limiter - saw 345 kph (215 mph). My blood must have been completely replaced with adrenalin - when I got off the bike after I was shaking all over. sold the bike the next day.
