are ibiza cupra turbos unreliable?

Ive got a 2.0 8v cuprasport and want to change to a mk3 turbo ibiza but dont know anybody where i live who knows much about them,after reading about them on here cant decide whether to buy one or not seen as i havent had hardly any trouble with mine,i know these forums are for people who have problems but some people call them unreliable,but most seem to have same problems,i.e boost.someone please tell me they are a good car coz love the looks compared to mine.thanks ppl.

All cars are different , depends if you get a good one or a bad one ,and that goes for all makes of car.
However on a whole i would say they are reliable and cheap to get 200bhp from.

like any car youll get certain problems people think theyre unreliable but most have been trouble free for years, wear and tear accurs on up to 7 year old cars, ive had mine two years and all thats gone wrong is ignition switch, cant say fairer than that.

likewise i've had my car for a year and bit now and only had a coilpack go.....

although I have replaced the clutch, steering arms and ball joints but there all down to mods I've done and accidently giving the clutch a bit of grief lol

Will have had my Cupra for 7 years in November and all that has failed me is general wear and tear items.....Clutch, cambelt, water pump etc... never even had a coil pack go so I would say mine has been very reliable....

certainly no less reliable than most other cars

its just a case of luck really as to whether your car will get struck down all of a sudden

Had mine 6 months.. Never skipped a beat..

Most reliable car I've had - usually thrown a thermostat or something by now

You watch now, bet the car won't start in the morning now I've said that

In my honest opinion and iam a VAG technician, i rate them as a very reliable car. They have there common faults, but nothing drastic really.

I love mine, its brilliant.

never had to be towed, but had 2 coilpacks go - but that's it in 2.5yrs & 30k

Think the beauty of if it is, if you aren't completely stupid and competitant with a computer you have got a lot of tools readily at your disposal to do the diagnosis and leg work in fixing it..

Statisticly (if it's possible) I doubt it's the most realiable engine out their, but I'd challenge someone to find an engine that's as well documented and diagnosable as the 1.8T for when it does go wrong!

ive had 2 now i have found the turbos can do funny things loads of boost then no boost the next day i wouldnt have any other car

you just need to take your time and find a descent cupra. i rushed into buying mine and now ive had it serviced ive found out i need a new water pump, cam belt, steering rack, radiator, tyres and front and rear disc's and pads !!!!!! well at least the flux compasitor is ok, lol. the joys of owning a car
