Hello

So i was reversing off my drive (fence down one side), and was keeping my eye on some people walking past as to not reverse into them, and ended up scraping my rear drivers side against a fence post, gutted .

Managed to clean off most of fence paint to see the damage which is in the video below.

Does anyone know roughly what cost im looking at to get this sorted? Also if anyone local to me (south yorks/bassetlaw) knows of a decent place to go to get it sorted i'd be grateful

Thanks!

Edit: image for anyone that can't see video...

Thanks, thats much better for my wallet ha - i'll try take it to a garage tomorrow see how much they say

I'd get the that magic pen or w.e it's called and fix the scratches. You can find one with your car's color code at the dealership. It's pretty cheap also.

ooh thanks i will actually - will be useful to have one anyway. Theres a Seat dealer near where i'm taking the car tomorrow so i'll nip in see if they have any

ouch, sorry to see that mate. You will be able to tidy it up considerably using a scratch remover like Meguiars Scratch X but where you have removed the paint a smart repair will be the best bet, as they will only paint the damage but a garage will quote to spray the whole bumper / wing.

good luck with it, sure it will turn out ok

Thanks i'll try some of that on the scratches, i was so angry with myself, it put me in a bad mood ha! I had some tracking done yesterday and got a quote and they said £170 so i think i'll go for a smart repair. Looking at it in the daylight its not that noticeable (when i looked the next morning i didn't see it straight away). I'm just glad it wasn't worse!

All depends how much you like your car, smart repair wont last just have the bumper painted properly should be around £150 max with smart repairs there good for a few years if done correctly after that it will start goin dull where they have blown it in.

Hmm, i do plan on keeping the car a while but was hoping to change in a few years, i'll have a think but will probably go for a smart repair for now and decide on what to do when its looking abit dull, at the moment i could do with that extra money in my pocket

ahh i didn't know that could be done, will that be very noticable though between original and new? i'll be good to do it fully in a few months, just got a few things that require money coming up (including the winter heating bill!) so the more cash in my pocket the better ha

No wont be noticble they will blow it in half way in the bumper you wont be able to tell! Just a cheaper option and on the leon its fairly narrow in the middle so even better should be fine, if done correctly :) just ask at a bodyshop for half a bumper and it should be half the price
