I bought one as I dislike these Nanny State devices being default 'on' at every startup. There are a few occasions when I might want them, but 90% of the time, I don't. My days for grovelling under the dash are long since gone, so I had a local auto electrician I know fit it on Saturday.

The device plugs into the Gateway module, and you "simply" remove one of the plugs, and place the module between the plug on the loom, and the socket on the Gateway. I say "simply" because the Gateway is tucked up in the dash, and not that easy to get to. The instructions show a LHD car, where the module is far more accessible. My man managed it without too much drama, as he is much more flexible than I am, so I'm glad I didn't tackle it myself.

It does exactly what it says on the tin, and remembers the last settings for start/stop, lane assist, speed warnings, and driving profile. To disable it, so that it goes back to default 'on', you just press and hold the OK button on the steering wheel for 5 seconds, making the module invisible to the system. It was bl**dy expensive, at about £400 including shipping and UK VAT, but the only device I could find that works on the facelift models. Not for everyone, I'm sure, but I don't begrudge a penny of it.
